2007 MINI S Radio Display Problem

Hello Wayne! I am having a funny problem with the display on my radio. The LCD screen become illegible when it gets warm outside or if it's humid, when it's cool outside it's perfect. The MINI dealership has suggested a new radio...that's like $800. But everything else works fine on the unit. Then the next time I went in they said that it maybe the battery...but it would cost me $250 to replace that, and they couldn't tell me for sure that was the issue. Any advice?

Have you checked brightness control?
Have you checked the LCD display with a trickle charger on the battery to see if intensity changes?

I have checked the brightness control. The pixels are all messed up. I also did go out and buy a battery charger. It was registering charged at 100%...trickle charged with no luck...display is still messed up. In the mornings, when it's cool, it perfect...by 50degrees it's not even legible...

I didn't figure out how to fix it...but I think I found a way around this problem. So I have a refridgerated glove box (it's actually just an airconditioner vent in the glove box that you can twist on or off). Strangely enough, if I turn this vent off, the LCD returns close to normal. I don't know if that allows the cold air to cool off the LCD, but it worked!
