Hi Michael,
I read a tread about a conversion to manual and they have to change the computer and the key lock from the same car. The cvt function it must be different from the 6 speed auto
I will like also to do this conversion if possible, my cvt itīs begining to give me problems, in road bumps the transmission goes to neutral, I lift the throttle for a little bit and accelerate and then it works correctly, I will try to get more info and will get back to you

Pedro

Hey so you know the cvt transmission needs to be cleared every 25,000 miles as it starts to remember your driving habits and trays to second guess you as for my transfer I have bought a gt1 program kit which will pretty much let me reprogram most anything in the car but was hoping to find a 2007_ 08 transfer upgrade as its for my girlfriend since she won't drive a stick as for me I would just go manual

I don't know that it needs to be cleared, do you need a special program to do that?

If I'm not mistaken, disconnecting the battery for an extended period of time (not sure how long, maybe 30min-1hr) should make the ECU "forget" all of its settings.

That said, I am interested in the general idea of replacing a CVT with the newer automatic transmissions; the general cost, and what is required beyond the transmission itself. My CVT so far shows no problems at 93K (knock on wood) but I know at some indeterminate point in the future I will need to replace it, and replacing it with another CVT doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I've also read a few threads about conversion to manual, but truth me told, I prefer the lazier driving afforded to me by an automatic, even though some purists think it's absurd.
