They are very different procedures. I would grab a repair manual to see what is involved with the CVT. It has to be adapted afterward, which sometimes requires a MINI scan tool. If the belt is worn, at times the CVT will not readapt after a service. These are sometimes best left alone.

Trans fluid change
My daughter has a 2005 mini S with a automatic trans. I is starting to jerk when it shifts I wonder if a fluid change would help? She is using it in manual mode now and all is fine but this is not the answer for my fix.

I recently brought a pair of spot lights for my 2007 mini cooper , hatchback automatic . It did not come with an electrical wiring diagram Is pelican parts able to assist me in obtaining a electrical wiring diagram . I brought the lights from mini genuine parts England Part # BM63.12.7.266.6 , 01KIT . All I got was pair of spot lights a wiring harness , with relay & fuse . a connector and 2 mountain brackets . no electrical wiring diagram or toggle switch , or spot light covers |

I purchased the Febi CVT fluid and changed mine last weekend. I drained out the old fluid but only recovered 3.5 liters rather than 4.5. I took the air box and battery box off and added 4 liters of fluid into the top plug. Down near and just above the drain plug is the "top off" plug and when I opened it, about 0.3 liters came out. I then drove the MINI until the tranny warmed up and then opened the "top off" plug and another 0.2 liters came out.
The Bentley manual says 4.5 liters comes out and should be added back but I think that about a liter stays in the valve body. BTW, I think I will figure out a way to add at the "top off" plug like the manual says as that seems reasonable and I don't like taking all of that other stuff off. Also, I didn't have to adapt the tranny afterwards. It was just fine. |
