After doing some investigation, I found out and checked that my Mini Cooper 2007 is not fitted with the IBS intelligent battery sensor on the negative lead of the battery. My understanding is that programming is only necessary if this sensor is fitted. What are the consequences if the battery is not registered/programming not done? Looking at the service history, the battery was replaced just over a year ago at the Mini agent.

If a battery that requires registration is not registered, the charging plan will be off and the new battery may fail prematurely. Due to plan being adapted for the old battery.

Check if your vehicle requires it and have it performed if needed.
