What is the labor time involved in a 2006 Mini Cooper R53 fuel filter change? People on NAM state an hour for the time involved. My independent German car mechanic is quoting me $325 for the labor only, which equates to about 3+ hours. Which time frame for the fuel filter replacement is more accurate?

I don't have a labor guide. Call a few shops. Try a few places to get an idea of the average time it takes.

filter change
It is not too hard...
but harder than most cars Under rear seat on passenger side my non book real time estimate pop rear seat out 10min unbolt cover 10 min clean filter area 10 min disconnect line, open and remove old fliter 10 min clean filter internal area 10 min replace filter and seals 10 min test for leaks 10 min replace cover 10 min replace seat 10 min so that's 1.5 hours and ALL of those times are FAT - it's about 45min if you work however as a business it's not realistic to pretend that you are working at 100% all the time so 2x acutal is a fair estimate and price in my view so 1.5 seems reasonable the parts and job are not too hard - go to Pelican watch the video and do it yourself - it is NOT hard! you will save $$$ and learn! |
