2003 Mini Cooper S 130,000m. I have alot of slack in the drivetrain. I'm a fairly accomplished mechanic and its definately not clutch slip. When in gear with 1 front wheel off of the ground the wheel will rotate about 15 degrees. There is obvious slack in a coupling inside the transmission. The constant velocity joints are tight, the movement is obvious at the point the driveshaft enters the transmission. It also makes a slapping noise in the transmission. The gears shift well and the front end is otherwise tight. Ideas?

Could be a worn diff inside the trans. But some gear wind up is normal.
