I 2008 Mini Clubman stalled and then it wouldnt start. Tried getting a jump start but wouldnt give so i changed the battery. Had to get it towed home because it doesn't turn over. My mini shows an orange Key symbol on the dash. It has no slash in it. I called the dealer and they said it's probably because my battery has to be registered?
What's that got to do with not starting and the KEY symbol? __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: MINI Cooper Battery Replacement and Battery Tender Installation (R50/R52/R53 2001-2006) | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article |

The vehicle will start even if the battery is not registered. I would guess the key is not being recognized. If you have a second key, try it. If not, you will need to read the vehicle fault codes.

Do you have a MINI diagnostic tool? Info on how to register your vehicle IF your Clubman has an IBS unit is below. Not all MINI's come equipped with one, but if yours does have it, it's a good idea to register it. It wouldn't prevent the vehicle from starting though. Agree, try the second key and plug in to see if codes are present in the system.
