R50/R52/R53 water pump replacement and part recommendations
The cooling system is one of the most often neglected items on many vehicles. It's very important to not neglect yours. If you just purchased your MINI and have no service records indicating a coolant change, then it's time. I've come across many new owners ask this question, "I just bought my MINI and have a coolant leak, what items should I replace?" Of course, the coolant tank is the first item to check as it is a known problem area, but it's also no uncommon to have a water pump or thermostat leak. We have a great new water pump overhaul kit in our catalog that lists just about everything you'll need/want to replace while doing this job.
Water pump super kits (R50/R52/R53) CLICK HERE. Items that come in the kit: Water Pump and Gasket Thermostat Thermostat Housing Gasket 12 oz. Redline Water Wetter Corrosion Treatment 1 gallon of Coolant (must be mixed 50/50 with distilled water) Expansion Tank or Thermostat Housing Cap Upper and Lower Radiator Hoses Another item to check while doing the job is the water pump flange. If the flange itself looks like it's still in good condition, it's not a bad idea to replace the o-ring. If the flange looks to be in poor condition, replace it. CLICK HERE for o-ring or flange.
