Question on Slave Cylinder Line Replacement 06 S
Can anyone point me to a how to on replacing the bottom part of the slave cylinder line on an 06 Mini S? What started off as a simple job become a pain when the line snapped, and I have had NO luck on finding any info on the best way to change it.
Thank you for any help! |

Do I have to remove the master cylinder to change just the bottom part of the line? From what I can tell the line is actually 3 pieces, I only need to replace the bottom part that has the connection to the slave clylinder.
Was hoping to find a how to on changing out that line specifically. Thank you for the tips though! |

Hello Cap - Are you talking about the line - #13 on the diagram below? You said the bottom line on the slave cylinder correct? Or are you talking about the line on the bottom of the master cylinder? You mentioned both so I want to make sure we are on the same page here. Did a little edit because I gave info about the master, but I'm listing info for the slave cylinder below.
#14 on the diagram below is the clutch slave cylinder. #13 is the line from the bottom of it, which is the one you want to replace, correct? That replacement line is HERE if needed. ![]() Figure #2 in the article here: MINI Cooper Clutch Master and Slave Cylinder Replacement (R50/R52/R53 2001-2006) | Pelican Parts DIY Maintenance Article shows you the location of the slave cylinder. It is fairly easy to get to. To get the line off of it look at figure 3-5. You will want to see if you can work up the line a bit and find its connection to the rest of the line by the bracket (#12 in the diagram above). You may be able to disconnect the line that way instead of removing the whole thing. Otherwise, there is a retaining clip on the pressure line going to the master cylinder that is connected slave cylinder (#10 on the diagram above). If you can get enough room you can remove the retaining clip to remove the line. Figure 18 in the article shows you an up close view of it. You can remove the entire line from the diagram above. However, first just get under there and look closely at the line attachment points and move up to where the line goes to #12 the bracket. You might be able to just remove that part of the line instead of the whole entire line. Hope that helps you out a bit. Last edited by Luccia at Pelican Parts; 05-10-2017 at 10:25 AM.. |
