The Pelican tech article for R55/R56 "Door check Replacement" is great, but directs you to a MUCH more complicated procedure than needed.
The basic article is OK, but directs you to both the Door Panel Removal and the Window Regulator Removal articles. 1. The Door Panel Removal is correct, but you only need to go through step 7, removing the surround panel. 2. The Window Regulator Removal is completely unneeded (and is a VERY complex job). 3. Instead, once you have the surround panel off, simply remove the lower/larger speaker. 4. This give you plenty of access to remove and replace the door check, following the procedures in the Door check Replacement article. 5. Replace the surround panel - be sure to put the light in the bottom first. I would rate this two wrenches, and the $60 labor is probably right, but the time is 30 to 45 minutes depending on how long it take you to get those panel clips out. Note that this was the first time I removed the panel, and no clips broke on my 2009 Clubman. |

Hello Gary - did you post this as a comment at the bottom of the article? https://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/MINI_R56/71-BODY-Door_Check_Replacement/71-BODY-Door_Check_Replacement.htm
If you scroll to the bottom there is a comment box. Copy and paste this response there. It can be useful to others that run across the article and do not see your post in our forum. Thank you for posting your feedback. |
