R56 Mini Cooper S (2007) starter replaced/intake man removed - now SPUTTERING ENGINE
plz help guys.
I removed the intake manifold to replace the starter which had a bad solenoid. Meanwhile, the car cranks and starts perfect now thx to the new starter - however, the engine won't stay on, it sputters between 500-1000rpms and then shuts off. If i throttle full upon starting it, it will go to 4000rpm max and then die completely. I have checked all my wiring/hoses that i touched a million times, and taken the intake man off/on probably 10x now, cannot seem to fig it out!!! ![]() No Check engine codes showing up either. Did you smoke test the vehicle to make sure there aren't any vacuum leaks?

Sure sounds like a vacuum leak. I assume you replaced the gaskets.
I just came in from the garage 10 minutes ago. I was trying to replace the starter on my '08 but I can't get the intake manifold off. I tried to follow Nick's instructions and the manifold is loose but won't slide off. I may have missed a fastener. Any ideas? |

Also, make sure there aren't electrical clips holding the harness to the intake and the bolt under the throttle body. |
