A fist full of gold coins.

Seriously. Are they worth anything besides the value of the gold? What’s the point of having any.

Seems like you get bent over selling gold no?

I have some. Not sure I even fathom the point. Shave off a sliver to buy bread during the apocalypse?

Even though it’s pretty worthless, by the end of today I’ll give you $1k cash for every ounce you have.

Historically, and I mean throughout all of history, gold has been coveted everywhere. It’s a pretty good bet that trend will continue long after we’re gone. Who cares why? It just is.

It depends on the coin. Many are worth their gold weight and not more. They are totally marketable, you can send them to online retailers and have cash in your account in return.

You should have some physical gold in your portfolio. It is an insurance policy against hyperinflation. It beats a printed piece of paper any day. Gold has to be dug up and has limited supply. It is also used in technology, dentistry, medicine and jewelry, so it does have everyday uses that do support its value.

If you want to sell those coins, I'll be interested.

Selling gold coins.............

I had a couple of 1/4 ounce French gold coins a few years ago. The coins were from the Napoleon era (late 1700s-early 1800s) so they should have had some collector value. I had to work my butt off finding a buyer at bulk gold value! Something else to consider is that if the worst happens, who is going to have the cash to buy your gold? I tend to think that barter goods like guns, ammo, food, etc. would be more useful. Just my .02 cents worth!!

Guns, food and fuel will get you through the early days or months of an apocalypse.

Gold will help your kids during the rebuild phase.

I loved the episode where a band of thieves stole a load of gold bars from a train, then went into hiberbation for 100 years. It didn't turn out well for them...

I always figured bullets will be the currency after the apocalypse. Guns for big purchases. Bullets would be like pocket change.

You actually can, but it is impractical to reload.

First, you have to clean the cases, then you pour in a liquid primer and let it dry. Then you reload as normal. I don' know that anyone sells the liquid primer anymore. You also don't take the indentations out of the rim (no one figured out how to do that), so over time, you get more and more FTFs.

Look at prices from 2006/07 through to 2012.

I have invested into gold but only spare money that would otherwise sit. Most of my purchasing happened sub 1100 an ounce. I have made some 1200 an ounce purchases too.

I am considering a bit more, my game plan, instead of paying off mortgage early use money to buy gold. If the economy tanks gold will rocket up, I sell and pay off mortgage in one fell swoop.

How is the economy?

What was it in 2010?

What was it in 2006?

Where will it be if we have another financial collapse?

How do you feel about 21 Trillion in national debt that now accumulating over 600 Billion a year in interest?

How do you feel about Americans have the largest credit card debt ever?

How about Car loans, the new Mortgage free for all, you good with everyone having 70K car loans that probably should not?

Lets revisit this in 2020 to 2021 and see where gold is then.

Then I will type in purple font.
