I have been to over 30 different countries and Australia gets my vote.

In fact, it is not even really close.

Thailand loves the foreign money as well. they are super friendly to tourist.

hell, last time i was there the country came apart at the seams when they tried to overthrow the government. airport was taken over.

the Thai Gov paid all of our hotel and food cost for the entire time we were held hostage there. it was essentially a free 10 day vacation extension. EXCEPT for the stress. we did have Marshall Law going..and daytime was spent trying to gather info on how the eff we could get out of there.

i had a lady, just some local with internet service doing all the legworks. she was an angel. she got us a cab at Zero dark thirty for a run to the military airport..

man, that trip was interesting!! i'm going back next year!! need to get my padthai on!

Maybe it depends on how you want to be treated.

In my experience, Japan.

My experience is that it isn't the United States of America unless you already live here.

That and the FFG I was on, the Crommeilin (named after three brothers), had family connections in Perth. I got to play at the Royal Perth Golf Club and have a couple of Crème de menthes with some very nice young ladies at a number of family events.

In all seriousness, it does matter greatly the host countries opinion of Americans, and, as importantly, the opinions they have for their country.

India was for me, in the 1980's, second only to Australia in terms of engagement. I have not been back since 1987 but spent two weeks there. The openness, the curiosity and frankly the beauty of the country was really special to me.

I had a driver for the first five days that knew more about our system of government than I did. Crazy.

FFG-37 is now a fish condo off of Kauai. Sniff.

Been to 33 countries and all 50 states: Fiji and Australia are at the top for sure....In AU, you can get to know a bloke just standing next to him at the urinal.....(I'm very poor at languages, so that might account for some of my experiences).

Also, In Tahiti: Returned rental car to airport and had my bags outside a cab for the 10 minute ride to cruise ship. Gal at rental car office she insist she shut down the office and give me a ride. Had to almost fight her to take a tip....She that is what locals do.....

When you refer to expressed hospitality in South Africa, is it the white South Africans or the Black South Africans who are so welcoming? Or, both?
