what shoes do you wear for yard/outside work ?

I generally wear cheap canvas shoes from the evil empire but am looking to move up . I like to wear something barefoot but not opposed to wearing socks . Need them for jobs outside like mowing the lawn , planting/transplanting various flowers/bushes to washing the cars or working on the man cave . So what are you guys wearing ? Something better than cheap canvas but not a full on steel toe shoe . My feet thank you in advance

I just opened up a can of whup-ass on some bamboo holdouts wearing RED-BACK pull on boots.

Easy on, easy off. Very robust. Sturdy enough to wear while stomping on the back of a shovel.

I just use my older sneakers - Nike Air Force, Adidas Superstars, that kind of thing. As I buy new ones for street wear the older ones become the garden shoes

I wear a pair of Timberland hiking boots. I usually wait to buy them when they're on sale as Shoe Carnival or online somewhere. I can normally buy them for around $70-$80

Tennis shoes are fine for me unless I need to dig with a shovel. Stomping on the back of a shovel with soft shoes kills my feet.

I failed to mention I will be wearing these year round so temp's in the 90's to near 100 during the summer and maybe down to the 30's in the winter . So I think I need more of like a Croc style or maybe a moccasin style but hard/er soled with the ability to breath . Yes I too have used hand me down sneakers as I renew the rotation but by the time I purchase new the old are VERY shot

I used to wear old athletic shoes....but extremely bad ankles regulate me to only something with 6" height....can't wear a lowtop of any type....barefoot...birks....nope...no mas. Danner Pronghorns make my feet happy....so they get worked in...Danner workboots no bueno either.

edited: exactly 5 years ago, this time of year, I dropped a big azz qtr of red oak on the toe of my athletic shoe...I wish like hell I had started wearing boots a bit earlier....broke my big toe behind the nail !

Barefoot. Even to mow and cut down trees. If I need to use the shovel I'll put on my torn up everyday pair of shoes otherwise they stay in the car. If it's winter and I need to shovel I wear a pair of mukluks (wool socks with leather soles on them).

I rarely do yard work but when I do, I slap on an old pair of Nike Shox that were Williams/BMW F1 Pit crew team issue back when Ralf drove for Frank Williams and was sponsored by Nike. I probably should have kept them nicer, because I doubt if there were more than 100 pair of these produced with all the logos on them, but, what the heck. I am a fan, and I want people to know it!

Tennis shoes for watering and light trimming or weeding. Steel toe boots for anything with a blade/motor combo or when splitting wood. I have a good junk out of one toe, dont remember how but I'm really glad I wore them.

Size 13 Timberlands with carbon fiber plates under the insoles - always. I can barely walk on uneven ground without them due to arthritis pain.

Inside the house - deerskin moccasins - I have have them for about 10 years.
Work shoes - I need to wear steel toe shoes - Dr Marten high tops. They are the most comfortable shoe you can wear especially if you are standing on your feet on a factory floor. Very durable.
New Balance - athletic shoe with super feet insoles.

Not one answer. If I'm not digging, then either shoes from Muckboots or birkenstock gardening clogs. If digging, a good boot like an ariat. For heavy gardening without banging on a shovel, Merrell lightweight boots-like a heavy hightop sneaker.

When my current day to day Reebok Classic shoes get worn out enough to lose the day to day honor, they go to the garage for yard and mowing duty. I have three pair in the garage now. At some point I will get one pair really muddy. Then they go in the trash. I love the Reebok Classic because they sell them in a 10 EEEE size.

I wear work boots even shopping at the grocery store so I always have a newer pair, a decent pair and an old pretty worn pair. Since boots don't like to get soaked (even with waterproofing on them) 'cause then they are likely to squeak when you walk, I use the old worn pair in the yard. I even have an older, older pair that I use when painting.

I値l keep buying these as long as they stick to the formula.

They have been a game changer for me. I値l occasionally wear them near heavy construction. Super super comfy. I知 tempted to buy another pair to put in storage

Dang Glen, have you considered taking up barefoot waterskiing or shoeless snowshoeing?
