I feel sorry for the man vs food guy

What a sad disgusting display . It is hard to watch him jam all that food in his face . I feel like he is being exploited . That is all, your thoughts ?

He's still around? I would've thought he'd have dropped dead by now.

I think they are on host 2 or 3 by now. We did watch some of the early episodes with Adam Richman but got tired of it pretty quickly. Astounding was not the amount of food, which was crazy, but the quantity and levels of heat (spice) he could ingest. Not too far from professional eating IMO ... though watching those make me sick.

I think he pronbably qualifies for a different show now..."My 600 pound life". We all enjoy some good fattening food now, and then, but to eat like that on a regular basis ? Wow !

I know it's TV, but growing up poor - the whole gluttony thing disgusts me. Also, not too far removed from that idea is "All-you-can-eat" restaurants.

Don't get me wrong, I love to eat - but I cherish well prepared, balanced dishes in moderate portions.

I am getting tired of these shows also. I think too, about the wasted food from the plethora of cooking shows in general.

Right now I feel sorry for anybody that watched one of those shows. Used to be that you could watch shows created by talented chefs that taught you how to cook. Now, 99% of all food-related programming is bull**** akin to a morning game show.

I suppose that I shouldn't be surprised, given that 99% of all TV programming is bull****, apparently intended for someone with an IQ of 40.

He has lost a ton of weight, I read somewhere he has to exercise non stop between shootings of the show in order to keep his weight manageable.

Not everyone can be Robert Irvine.

I've never even heard of that show.

If I'm going to watch a food related show, it's either "Chopped" or "Good Eats".

I don't watch a whole lot of mainstream TV. I had no idea that this show has been around for a while.
My wife had it on for the last few nights , and my curiosity was sparked after watching him stuff a 5 pound hamburger down his throat, all the while sweating, panting, and suffering while the crowd cheers him on .
It is actually pretty sad if you ask me. Kind of like a circus freak .
This is the guy I saw

Hey, wait a minute - isn't he the friend of the mini Kevin Harvick in the Mobil 1 commercials?
He needs a new agent.

Not to be confused with the priest from Gran Torino (Chris Carley):

Oh... so new guy. I've seen a few with the host named Adam. You are right, it gets old pretty fast. Though I do watch and root for Joey Chestnut on 4th of July Hotdog Eating Contest.

Yep... I used to watch the food network learn about cooking... now it has just turned into another "vote someone off the island" crap.

And the way they pick the chef's is 50% looks and 50% talent... Julia Child wouldn't make it through the first round of "voteing".

Back to Man Vs Food, great idea food network, obesity and diabetes are at epidemic levels in the USA and you put out a show about some guy cramming his face with giant portions of unhealthy food.

My wife watched Chopped a lot, I will cruise through and join.

Andrew Zimmerm Bizarre Foods on Travel Channel is a good watch. He is a less douchy Anthony Bourdain. Kind of like a cool uncle you have that is into food.

I was watching some old Anthony Bourain shows on the Travel Channel, his shows are still good.

And as much as everyone hates DDD I like it, I have discovered some cool places because of him. He also ruined some good secret places I like. One was the Tampa Brewing Company restaurant. It used to be quiet, now it is a madhouse thanks to him.

At least they show a real chef making real food, and he drives some pretty cool cars... but just ONCE I would like him to spit something out and say "That is disgusting!!!"

I hate that show because it makes me hungry every time. Yeah Guy can be a bit much, but he visits my sort of restaurant. Typically it's just some normal people going over and above to make awesome food, without pretense or snobbery. And that's it, no stupid contests or fake drama, just good unique food all over the USA.

DDD=Dinerss Drive ins and Dives?

Weird you mention him driving a car, does he do that now?

They used to trailer a car to the site, unload it, make a shot of him driving it into a parking spot, and then back on the trailer it'd go. I mean, I guess it is "Driving".

I saw an episode the other day and you could almost make out the gun they were holding to his head. You had to squint and look really hard, but it was there.

He left that show in 2012 BTW.
He went through six interviews to get that job.
They list his net wealth at $10 million.
Poor guy.

In 2014 he had a melt-down which damaged his career a lot more than too much food:

Quote:
the star went on a misogynistic and profane tirade on Instagram after a user called him out on his use of the problematic hashtag 'thinspiration', which is used by the pro-anorexia community. During his rant, Richman told one Instagram user, "Grab a razor blade and draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you," called another person a c***, and told the same person to eat s***.
