Le Mans Classic

any Pelicans fixing to partake or visit the Le Mans classic on 6-7-8 Juli this year?

Just booked my tickets, will be there with my kid sis and my Cayman
Arrive friday, leave sunday (and finish with a good drive through the Normandie)

Going to the Le Mans classic some years ago is my all time favorite car event experence!

And with the Porsche 70th this should be a great one.

The access to the cars and teams is fantastic, up close and personal.

The surrounding car activities is worth the trip in its self.

booked a bit late, am at the Beausejour near the Porsche curbes

I wish I could join in this year.
But I'm in Florida pulling together a new property, so not doing any distant travels.

Have fun! Yes Camping makes it a total immersion experence for sure. There are some amazing group camps to be seen. The long weekend there is an endurance event even for the fans.

Make sure to check out the club areas, there are many unusual makes of cars that show up and are on display.

I got tix and parking prepaid for Friday (only)... Was going to fly south once landed in Paris but remembered LM classic at the last minute, so I'll be renting and driving instead to Le mans, attending friday, then heading south west, then spain... Looking forward to it ! any tips on anything in particular ? never been!

Hotels in and around Le Mans are already fairly booked and $$$, so I booked a room in a chateau 1 hours south, to please the wife !

Some things came up and I won't be able to go to Le Mans Classic this year... It's definitely going to be a blast.

Silverstone Classic afterwards, on July 20-22 is going to be an amazing event as well, if you can stay that long!

Agree 100%, Goodwood Festival of Speed comes a close 2nd but I'd put it ahead of the Le Mans 24hrs for spectacle

Watching a bunch of 935's spitting flames at night is an amazing experience

I'm quite hardened to being around racing cars but at times over the weekend I did gray out and just couldn't take in anymore sights and sounds

Have a walk around the pits during the early hours when the crowds are less, the mechanics will have time to show you around and the access to the cars is something modern motorsport can't offer

I have so little pics, i dropped my phone on the first evening, screen busted.
just took some pics of the porsches and some bimmers with sis's phone.

Just the tip of the ice berg.

on day 2 we got fed up with watching cars in the paddocs and club parkings, it was just to much.

So went back to the Porsche experience center to beer up and watch England scrape through to the semi finals. Had seen Belgium beat Brazil there too.. We represented, flag and all

The noise is amazing.
But just watching won't do for me.. I must drive on that track.
ACO just has to tell me who they want me to kill for them in return.. i don't care. I WILL DRIVE THERE.

Anyway, sunday drive back was great as well , got traffic stopped by the french pohlice just after I had gunned it on a country road, going down in a valley..
They were camping out behind the bend.
luckily no speed gun , they were doing alcohol checks.
But they must have heard me doing my dash, my Cayman has exhaust work done by Carnewall and i ran it close to the redline in the valley

Luckily i had come up the crest off the gass, saw em right away and let it run out.. But they knew, i knew, and super politeness ensued..
