We stated a place called Bolongo Bay. Very quiet, lousy beach, but I'd stay there again.

What else did you do?
What else was available in town?

Where else did you go locally from there?
How easy and/or reliable was it to go there and back as a day trip? Expensive?

Did you stay anywhere else in country?
How did it compare?

I've been down there many times and I've been a lot of other places in the Caribbean and I've concluded that I'd much rather go to Hawaii than anywhere in the Caribbean...

By the way, if you do end up going to the US Virgins, and you happen to book the least expensive airfare that you can find, and it happens to have a leg from San Juan to "wherever", do yourself a favor and doublecheck what planes that short leg might use. I once made the hop from Saint Thomas to San Juan in a cotton-pickin' DC3. You gotta read the fine print...

We flew into St Thomas, and took the ferry over the St John. Rented a house on top of a mountain, with gorgeous views. Drove to the beaches. The guy in town selling chicken BBQed in the 55-gallon oil drum was fantastic.

+1 fly into Charlotte Amalie and then head over to Saint John. Way more laid back and further away from all the fat obnoxious New Yorkers. Just explore. You’ll find nice stuff over there without having to over plan. Magans Bay in Saint Thomas is a little touristy but nice. Hit Trunk Bay on St. John for fun snorkeling.

I've never done USVI but have done Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic. I'm looking for good snorkeling, quiet-ish beaches, local color, great food.

I'm a diver, and I don't like tourists and crowds so I do St. Croix. One of the charters there is great for mixed gas deep dives and technical dives.

A couple friends and I spent a few days in St Croix, Christiansted, we had a great time, great sailing and great diving. We spent a few days on Barbados, Puerto Rico, Tobago and 11 days in Trinidad. We had some good times.

We desperately needed a rest and to get warm. We travel and “see things” all the time, so once we landed at the resort we settled in and stayed. There is apparently lots to do, but we didn’t do any of it. Our days were spent migrating from the beach to the bar to the pool to our room for a nap, then back to the beach, bar, and pool. The restaurant on site was very good and the was a bar with more casual dining within easy walking distance. There were many recommended activities, but the only one we indulged in was a delightful sunset cruise down the island on a 60 foot catamaran, which we did a couple of times.

If you can drive a small boat and do basic navigation go to Hope Town Abacos in the Bahamas.
Not really a fan of the Caribbean. I would not say the snorkeling is not that good anywhere except Barbuda, still a lot of damage from last hurricanes, and Saba, nice but read up on the island it’s not for everyone.
I have not spent much time in st. croix but St. John is nice.
St. Bart’s has the best food and some nice beaches.
