Fuchs prices
. . . are going up out of sight. Four grand  for a set of 7&8 x 16s:

I remember selling them for $1,000 for a set of four.
Anything air cooled has gone through the roof. |
Four grand?? That's ridiculous.
Fuch that! |

And the wheels get older and weaker. This is for trailer queens and Cars and Coffee cars that don't see the light of day during the week. I wouldn't put a set of 30 YO Fuchs to the test on your life, much more mine.
|
Weak? Do they crack or what? I’ve only seen one that was cracked from a hard impact, still held air.
Reason I’m asking is I see a lot of guys tracking cars still on 40-50 year old wheels.... |
I guess I need to take my 7 and 9 x 16's off the Targa and put them in a safe deposit box!
|
Price out some original Speedlines for the 3.6 turbos, holy hell....

Aluminum fatigues under repeated stress. Others know far better than me, but commercial airplanes have to undergo very extensive checks, designated A-D, with D checks being basically a disassembly and replacement of lots of aluminum structural components. Actually, there are also E checks, but they are rare; lots of airplanes get retired at that stage. I feel comfortable using Fuchs wheels for street use on non-race rubber on what is now a classic car, but not much more than that. That said, I pulled the original Fuchs off my car and stuck them in storage! |

Ruf wheels are also bringing mortgage money too

These threads make me sad, because they are a good reminder of why I will probably never own another air cooled 911.
|
I'm happy for Danny, the seller, good guy, but never thought those would go for so much. $1500 is the real price for a typical set of 7x8x16s. My guess is someone wanted the 76 date codes.

Maybe I can sell my 8's and 9's and buy a Boxster. :D

I try to ignore the 911's I sold or passed up. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
