I chatted with Derek when he was kid and opened for Eric Johnson (whom I also saw here two nights ago). By a strange coincidence, I got Derek's Soldano SLO in a trade a few years ago. I haven't seen him play the Gibson ES-335 I sent to his middleman, but I keep an eye out for it when I see him on Youtube videos.

I preferred it pre-Susan, because Derek got to solo more and I really like Mike's voice. The current band is good, but not at the same level.

I'm just amazed that they more or less live on the road. The current music model sucks for these guys.

Despised the venue....I'm old school and don't like $15 beers, but...

to recap....saw him play his first public gig, sitting in with a local blues band in Jax...30 years ago....mebbe 30 people in the club, and dozens of times in a local menu/venue here as a teen....couldn't play in FL....jambands, yep, and with Susan on a blues cruise many years ago....two feet in front of Oteil, his brother & band. I don't know how many shows my friends & I have seen mostly clubs, but hundreds of epic shows in ten thousand or more....hippie jam band, rock, blues....

Just go see 'em....best show we've seen in a long time last night....it was epic. Just go

Nothing like Derek and Warren Haynes trading licks on "Dreams"!

Like them as a group but had many CD's of Susan before I had ever heard of him. Her alone is enough for me.

I used to be a blues hound...for years....Kenny Neal and his brothers ...know 'em? Remember when she first hit the blues scene...fresh out of Berklee too. They're having fun at the top of both their games....the whole band is, amd having a blast and it shows.

They did a gig here (Desert Ridge) several years back, opening for a certain rock-star Pelican. Good show...

I've seen them in Seattle and Spokane the last two years. Amazing. I'm
a Marc Maron WTF fan. His interview with Derek is pretty good.

I saw him play with Gov't Mule years back, never solo or with TTB.

Remember Applejacks...in San Marko...that's where he sat in 30 years ago....might've been Ace's band...at 9...he'd only been playing 6 months by then. Got bored with him as he grew and developed....only slide for years....but I digress....

He just put on one of the finest performances I've seen...by him or anyone. He has simply become something I could not fathom...back then. They are having fun...

Ol' Artimus ...rock on

Tell me, rock gurus...why two sets of drums? Aside from more beat. ???
I'd guess for a bigger bottom.
