Stuck it in the window this morning as I getting old enough I figure we deserve it. We are estimated to have at least two weeks of better than warm weather? I don't know why I waited as we have solar and even with it running full blast the arrow still points the "right" way!

Might have to go get one today. We have central air, but it can't keep up. Temperature out of the vent is 69 degrees, it's a balmy 109 outside. I have a set of gauges on the unit right now, a bottle of R22 across the room, but there's no need to add more R22, actually might have to recover some.

In a pinch you can aim a lawn sprinkler at your condenser to help it along.

The heat index is over 100 here, of course.

I do work outside but have decided not to take on any new work until later in the year when conditions improve.

I have some monthly accounts that will keep me busy enough.

I try to keep my thermostat as high as possible to save on energy consumption. One degree can make a heck of a difference. I tend to challenge myself a bit. But there are those times when I have to crank that baby down too.

Had AC guy out just before the hot weather started, the condenser fan capacitor died. He cleaned the outside condenser real well. Asked about those misters on the condenser. He said it works until it causes the condenser to corrode and you have to replace it. Says the condensers he's had to replace had misters on them. With my condenser cleaned and new filters my AC with the hot temps can keep 40° difference between inside and outside. A LOT of gook came out of the condenser flushing it from the inside out with a good sprayer.

There's always a lot more things to do before doing this with the misting.

I'm right on the coast and it's not unusual for property owners to have misters over their condenser units to rinse off the salt. This is endorsed by the local AV techs too....

I installed this bad boy yesterday. It's the first time I've had air conditioning in my life. Slept like a baby last night.

We have been having 90 - 98 degree weather every day for the last 3-4 weeks! Add to that humidity that you can swim in and it is just plain uncomfortable outside! So far, the house a/c has been doing a tidy job of keeping the house cool and dry. The only good thing about this type of weather is that an afternoon rain shower pops up almost every day. At least everything outside is green and growing!
