Hi! This is Ann

Maybe it's Anne with an "e." I think she's stalking me, or possibly trying to sell me something I don't want. For my ego's sake, let's say she's stalking me. ;) I get a reliable 3 calls a day from her from multiple phone numbers. It's been going on for a month or so. Today she has a rival, Jennifer. Same script, as far as the first sentence goes.
Ann (e) is not two-timing me is she? Is she calling anyone else on the board? If she is, I'm dumping her for Jennifer.
I wonder what she looks like...

who even answers numbers you don't know, that's what the message thing is for.

widgeon13 07-25-2018 11:28 AM

My calls come from Rose!

MRM 07-25-2018 11:28 AM

As I clicked on this thread I received a call. Sure enough, it was the ever perky Ann(e). I think she got your message and has moved on to me.

If you're in business or exploring employment opportunities then you end up picking up the phone even though the odds are against you.

I use my cell phone for my business. I have to answer all my calls. I was on vacation last week eating lunch with friends, and I got a call. I took care of business within a few minutes. I made money, the client was happy. We got paid for it yesterday.

It is annoying as hell to get the credit card folks that will save me money by lowering my interest, or the auto warranty folks. I have actually had humans call about my auto warranty was about to expire. I always tell them I really need a renewal and I am ready. I then just talk BS for several minutes and when they finally insist they have to know what car I have. I tell them the 100% truth, 1986 El Camino with 360,000 miles. The bastages always hang up with no quote for a price.

LWJ 07-25-2018 11:49 AM

Is she hot?

LWJ 07-25-2018 11:49 AM

Cause I usually ask.

People who are expecting calls from people whose phone numbers they don't know. I just moved to this area. I have calls out to lots of people, from plumbers and electricians to cow manure suppliers. I don't know all their phone numbers.

I've been thinking about getting one of those thingys...phones. Seems I've finally come up with a couple of reasons to justify one....

Ann and Jennifer :)

I was staff at a large manufacturing facility and would get late night calls quite often

Phone rings at about 2 am. A drunk chick.

""Hello, what?"

"I am going to xxxx your brains out. I am going to suck and lick every inch of your body.!" And on and on and on she goes. In detail.

I finally break into her fantasy and tell her she has a wrong number . She mumbles something and hangs up.

Next night.

Phone rings. Same girl. Says she figured out my number and wanted to know if I wanted to get out and party with her.

I declined

I get a call about once a week from some dingy girl who sounds to be in her teens, representing some home improvement remodeling company. it sounds like the DB owner is paying his kids to make cold calls.

The phone number is (714) 990-8743
The address for that number is 226 Napoli Dr, Brea, CA 92821
The interwebs say that single-family home is owned by Steven P Olvey, age 64

I'm not sure if that's a real number or not, I've called it a few times and it rings but no one picks up. Usually I call late at night or really early in the morning, maybe that has something to do with it.

I have to answer my phone for business, so have to answer all calls. I get Heather and Jennifer calling everyday. As well as calls where no one says anything and then hangs up, different #'s everytime.

Back in the olden days before cell phones, and phones were connected to the wall with gasp WIRES I kept getting a wrong number. There was no such thing as caller ID.

Some old lady would call me on Saturday morning at about 6:00 AM and ask if Martha was there. I was polite for the first few times. I explained I live alone, and there is no one except me at this number. She would always apologize and I would get to back to sleep.

The final straw was when she called me on another Saturday morning at dawn, and I had been out the night before at a girl friends house and did not get home until very late after a night of a lot of um exercise and physical exertion with said girlfriend.

I had been sleep for just a hour or two and she called, asking for Martha. I just started sobbing and said Martha is DEAD and I hung up and went back to sleep. I felt bad later that day when I remembered the call. I always wondered if she ever bumped into Martha and was astonished she was alive. The old biddy never called me again.

I got an unknown local number call which I returned.
-"Hi who is this?'
-"John" (even that was a mistake but I was expecting calls)
-in scary voice: "I need a plumber because there is an issue at the building that needs to be fixed right now."
(mental check: nope not my tenant and nobody I know)

-"I'm sorry what was your name again?"
-in pushy demanding voice: "This is Betty Farmsworth at Mind Body Soul. Who am I talking to?"
-"This is John. I'm sorry I don't know you. I think you have the wrong number."
-Notice she gave her full name and job. I gave nothing more.

-"I've call about 40 people today and probably got them mixed up sorry"
-then in sickly sweet under the covers after sex voice: "Oh hi John. What do you do for a living?'
-"I'm sorry I don't know you. You must have the wrong number."
-She got nothing else from me so she did the *click*

I was starting to get curious to what she would try next. Kitty with still-twitchy mouse.

At the time I was busy and actually believed she was some local overworked spa secretary trying to fix a problem.
But her desperation for a building maintenance got easily sidetracked by her lust for my sweet talking romanticism.

Probably a spoofed number as well. Got a few of those.

Is it?

Caller ID spoofing is all the rage these days. You may even get a call "coming from" your number.
