FFL dealer I know packs his pistols for gun shows like that, in layers, with egg crate between each layer. 2 or 3 pistols per layer, a box that deep can do 2 or 3 layers ... his preferred containers were plastic milk crates, again using egg crate padding on bottom and between layers

This looks similar to what we use to transport random parts for traveling shows. bin gets filled with light bulbs/transformer/motion detectors. Bin goes into big rolling crate of miscellaneous parts, big rolling crate goes into truck trailer.

"Egg crate" is that stuff, something for Ted's ego you are thinking off "goose neck." Both bird related, you want the one that has to do with large capacity towing rigs.
