Wifey is running for the local school board

20 year veteran retiree of being an Assistant Superintendent of business (read $) for a small school district. Knows money and state/Federal funding very, very well. I think she would be great. Just filed the papers today. The current Board and the Superintendent like her. More to follow....

Tobra 08-02-2018 08:51 PM

She is over qualified.

Hugh R 08-02-2018 09:05 PM

Probably, but she knows her stuff. My first venture into political stuff, lots of rules...

ckelly78z 08-03-2018 02:59 AM

Is she willing to hear complaints about trivial issues from over concerned parents on a regular basis ?

fintstone 08-03-2018 03:16 AM

Great! Perfect person for the job.

unclebilly 08-03-2018 03:53 AM

My wife did the same last fall. In the end she was not elected. The guy who did win is a 35 yr teacher in our area. I work closely with him as I am chair of our school council.

I think it worked out for the better.

There is no such thing as an over concerned parent.

Maybe overbearing.

But not over concerned.

In fact, we could use more parents (and citizens in general like Mrs Hugh) who take a vested interest in our futures education.

Good luck to Mrs Hugh and thank her for her commitment.

It is a good thing that someone can bring back some good old time values to the class room , We should strive for excellence in the class room and award the below trophy for the achievement so richly earned.

She will do great.

What a Gal!

John Rogers 08-03-2018 12:22 PM

I hope she can be able to deal with the few people who cause 95% of the issues with a school system? We seem to have "professional agitators" and they seem to show up even if the facts haven't all come out it seems! Concerned parents are one thing but the people who holler and scream and waive signs at meetings can be super hard on a person's nerves and there have been cases when board members were followed home and so on. I wish her the best of luck.

Well lets put those people in their place by getting the School police to remove the "professional agitators" from the room as being disruptive.

OK, fess up, who pissed in Tabs Cheerios?

tevake 08-04-2018 09:05 AM

I'd like to offer my kudos to Mrs Hugh and UncleBilly. Our schools need solid folks to help keep them on track.

As far as Tabs Cheerios, sometimes He does make it tempting

Cheers Richard

She has met Tobra several times and we spent four days at Seahawk’s crib. She has met a few others as well.

She is very empathetic, which is a gift in my mind...and also that certain something that the best mother's and wife's have. It just is: traits that translate and will recommend her, in concert with her education and professional achievements, for the position she is seeking.

Hugh and I, on the other hand, are luckiest mustafa's on the planet.

We don't need anymore sympathetic empathy in our schools but more discipline. Empathy is a failed model, where you get a participation trophy for showing up. It has created a nation of fat dumb and stupid losers who don't have a lot to piss in. But they did have a wonderful time at mouseville.
