Uber Driver Smoking Pot Right Before Pick-Up
I had to take an Uber home yesterday after dropping off my truck for tranny work. When I got in the car it smelled strongly of weed, and not like a stoner passenger just got out. It was a strong fresh smoke.
I confronted her gently and said "You should let the car air out a little better before picking up a passenger, or better yet...wait until you're off service". She got a little paranoid and denied it at first, but then said defiantly that "its legal now". She drove fine and seemed like a nice person, so I brushed it off and didn't report her. Would you guys report the incident to Uber? I guess I'd rather have a stoned driver than a drunk one, or one taking Vicadin. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1533310601.jpg |
Is driving while stoned legal?
|
Did she at least offer to share?
|
You didn't report it to UBER at least??? There is no way that they allow their drivers to be stoned, much less smoke in the cars. Report it, and get a few free rides (and take an irresponsible person off the payroll).
|
I guess I am a a-hole. I would not have let her drive me, and I would report it, even if it was a regular cigarette. Stink week is one of the few stinks worse than tobacco.

^^^^ Plus then you'd have to stop at a drive-thru along the way.

Seriously though, I've typed and deleted the contact to Uber twice. I'm hoping you guys will push me one way of the other. I should have done a pole.
|
I'd report her. Her driving is impaired, and what if someone else gets killed or injured as a result?
|
The fact that you are coming here with it should tell you what to do
Hell to yes tell uber, least she could do is use the vape thing so it does not smell as much. it's legal now, WTF, so is booze, you dirty footed hippies, but you can't drink and drive. |
Was she hot? :D
|
I would report her. Nothing bad happened this time. But this likely not the only time she had driven stoned.

you guys wanted to live in the land of the losers with no personal responsibility...this is what you get.
every tv show, comedian, instance of joking about pot----normalizing it----just furthers our trip down the road of lazy piece of ****tedness. ****ing embarrassing what this country is turning into. |
The guy who I bought my 356 from picked me up at the Greyhound station when I went south to Ft. Lauderdale to pick it up.
When I opened the passenger door to get in his truck, I almost got an immediate buzz from the weed fumes. Graphic artist....go figure..... :) |
Craig - I wouldn't report to Uber. What you might have done, IMHO, is have a brief conversation with her sharing your concern. Especially if she were younger than you - it could have been a mentoring moment passing along some wisdom.
Doesn't mean anything would change but I like the concept that she would hear from a fellow human being concern for her well being (as well as other human beings) - rather than from her employer - which has a different tone all together. ===== Also - no one likes a rat! |
I would report her. You are only allowing her to endanger someone else.
This time she was just stoned. Who knows what else she does. And driving while stoned is just as bad as while drunk. |

I wouldn't have reported her but I would have told her straight up the next person won't be as nice.
Here weed will be legal in October, but driving stoned carries the same penalty as a DUI. You will go to jail, lose your licence and job (driving), insurance through the roof, etc. |
