Air crash suicide

stolen commuter plane out of Sea-Tac by a wigged out aircraft mechanic...suicide crash into a Puget Sound Island. Tabby is right..nation going bonkers.
Alll over local PNW news..probably national tomorrow. Sounds like he didn't take others with him, so a silver lining.

Yup. This will probably be national in a few hours. I've been following it since 3am here at Good Morning America.

There's got to be an easier way to commit suicide besides stealing and operating a plane.

Easy isn't in the equation when thrill seeker meets death wish. I'd imagine this guy thought about this for a good while, got his chance and took it. I could totally see some dude stuck in a soul-sucking airport job thinking "F it. My future is crap so..." I'm not promoting it, just saying I can understand how it could happen.

Just heard a radio news person describe it as "a small 80 passenger commuter plane". Saw some video too. That was not a small aircraft. I laughed when the radio said the pilot was "concerned about the rate at which it was burning fuel". I'm sure 2 big, full-throttled turbines at sea-level do burn it as an impressive rate. Lol!

Glad nobody else was hurt. Shine on you barrel-roll, airliner dude.

Happened nearby me. Heard the roar of the F 15's ,not like a fly by but a continuous
low rumble that went on for awhile. I couldn't figure it out, as it was not like a usual
plane flying overhead where the sound tracks. Saw a post on Facebook that described
what was going on and turned on the local news. Quite a few people were getting video
of it. The plane crashed and burned on Ketron Island. I called a friend on a nearby island
who said the ground shook at her house, although she had no idea what had happened.
The F-15's were out of Portland and up here within minutes. The guy who stole the plane
had no flying experience but was trying to do barrel rolls etc. Crazy !!

pwd72s 08-11-2018 08:05 AM

Just a broken guy...guess that says it.

I was about to say, 'how in the hell does one do that?" when I remembered there's a YouTube video for everything ....

Taking off is easy they say. Landing is a bit harder....

john70t 08-11-2018 10:32 AM

But just think if he actually pulled off those Extra300 maneuvers in a Dash8-400.
Trained by X-Plane and by God.
He would be a living legend.

THIS is a job for the Space Force!
Pew-Pew!!!

berettafan 08-11-2018 11:01 AM

its sad. and he sounds like a pretty entertaining dude on ATC audio.

ted 08-11-2018 12:35 PM

One point landing. SmileWavy
He became suicidal soon after take off, with remorse for stealing such a pig of a plane.

svandamme 08-11-2018 12:48 PM

He sounded way overexited, maybe he was high on meds or something.
The ATC dudes seemed very nice and concerned, did their best to make him snap out of it.
maybe a bit to nice for this type of dude out of the range.. But no blame , it's to easy to second guess after the fact.

One of the best suicides I’ve ever heard of, that’s for sure!

It almost sounded like "Jeff Spicoli earns his wings".

Roger, Roger,
What's the vector, victor?
Check the clearance, Clarence.

No other injuries, casualties, or fatalities from on board, on runway/taxi, in air, or on ground. Thankfully.
