I deleted my G Mail account!

And I switched to Opera... I decided to stop Google collecting data about my on-line life.

I watched a BBC documentary about Google and how they make money by collecting data and how they manipulate their search results.
And how they avoid paying taxes by building their offices in Tax Havens.

So I'm one guy, they wont miss me but I felt good doing it.

You may think I'm being paranoid but they had more than 2,700 bookmarked web pages archived in my profile

When you're at the last step of deleting it they list all of the data they have one you.

Damn, I should have taken a screen grab.

The search engine company that shall not be named is pure evil.

If you were try and avoid all companies that use tax havens you'd be a true minimalist.

And you'd exclude a lot of musicians from your music repertoire.

Everyone should really get the download of what G has on you to get the full impact...

it'll be a BIG file, and it'll take some time to process before they send it to you.

https://myaccount.google.com/dashboard (Click 'Download Your Data')

In all its glory, *everything* you've done, and yeah, all of your cagey incognito stuff is there too... have fun!

This is too funny. Yesterday I stated that a certain search engine was pure evil, and today, I can't access that particular search engine.
It gives me a BS run-around and says it has detected unusual traffic and that I have to click on a box to prove I'm not a bot, and then click on all the images that show sign post or a bicycle.
Which of course I refuse to do.

So much easier just to click on the icon for BING!!!!!!!!

Take that you evil bastages!!!!!!!!

Mooo hhaaa haa heeee (sinister laugh).

This! ... But you need a G Mail account to log onto YouTube

Even starting a bogus one may not protect your privacy because of the linked recovery email.

EDIT: I'm now using "https://duckduckgo.com"

I used it for my business email.

I know they look at it, and honestly do not care.

There is nothing in my email that is remarkable, just BS back and forth between me and my clients.

I don't know how this stuff works.
If you have NoScript blocking and visit a website containing Google script, does your IP/ID still get sent to evil HQ?

The smart move is to have a separate email for vendors and spam. Yahoo account, y'all.

Have work email that use only for work.
For personal have Gmail, Yahoo, mac.com, and my hosting service zipbang.com

Signing up for any free email like google, yahoo, etc. in the agreement you are agreeing to let them read all your email incoming and outgoing.

First started email hosting in 1990 because was tired of email addresses changing because ISPs kept going out of business or changing names. Now I host for privacy, and no advertising. The only thing that scans my email is anti-virus scanners.

Over the years a number of friends, acquaintances, and small businesses that heard about my email service use it. Basically only charge what it takes to keep the servers, software, and internet connection up-to-date, $5.95 per month. That includes anti-virus/anti-spam, email/contacts/calendar/notes, a desktop client, webmail, active sync for phones, and a drop box type ftp service that lets you drop ship large files and host pics for posting.

All that being said...

Any time you use any search engine, google, yahoo, bing, whatever, you searches are being recorded. tracked, and associated with your browser, email account or not.

And if you use your browser to log into anything important like your bank. Restart your browser to log in then LOG OUT AND SHUT DOWN YOUR BROWSER before going to any other web sites!

Does that mean close the page or completely close all pages open? I always close the page, but not the others I might be using. Like being logged in to Pelican.
