Keep your cat and/or small dog inside...

This was in mine. Just heading home after a day of hunting mice. We call him James Jr...would be a tasty snack for your eagle!

Was coming up the ICW near NMB this past early spring and swore I saw an eagle...nobody else on the boat and had no camera...wife doubted me (we are weekend birders) and said it was an osprey. I said "nope, it was all black but the head"...

damned if I wasn't right!

Very cool!!!

I've seen quite a few eagles around here but you are right...in flight or up in a tree they are hard to tell apart from the osprey.

I woke up one Saturday morning and walk into the kitchen, then look out into the backward and freak out. I do not live in the country, I live in a very densely populated area. So to see this was a shock. Scarier still is we have a 20 lbs dog that would want to play with it and would probably end up a meal. She thinks every animal in the world was put here to be her play friends.

We have eagles land in our trees. Our beagle hides from them.

We have lots of wildlife, but what I fear the most for the dogs are the American Badgers. Stinking walking rugs of anger. Oh, they are the state animal so we aren't supposed to dispatch them.

Just last night my wife was kept awake by the constant yipping of really close coyotes...no pics, but about 30 feet from the house.

How the heck is that thing sticking to the wall?

Scott Douglas 08-15-2018 12:50 PM

iPhone pic is rotated, note the vents. It's actually hanging.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534366195.jpg

Ah, Ok now I see. Thanks Scott Douglass. I didn't look that close. Now I see the siding as well.

+1 all I saw was a giant snake.

I cannot see its head was it a black racer or is it a Cottonmouth?

I was at my mom's place a few years back and from inside, I saw a bird swoop down about 10-15' over the pond from inside the house. The third swoop was low. It is a juvenile bald eagle and it snagged a pretty big duck from the surface of the pond. It landed on the shore a few feet from my mom's porch and stood there on the duck for a min. Then it took off holding the duck in it's claws. It was as impressive as this video of it is unimpressive.

Wow.
I got all excited the other day when i saw a ground squirrel in the front yard. Thanks fer making me feel insignificant :D

BeyGon 08-15-2018 01:42 PM

I think that black snake is pretty skinny to be a Cotton Mouth plus the fact we won't be seeing any on the loose in Orange County. I have seen Eagles here though out in the hills when I was surveying.

We have a winner!!
Two snakes and a bobcat in the same pic! SmileWavy

pwd72s 08-15-2018 03:41 PM

Cougars not uncommon here...a woman down south had one stroll into her home when she left a patio door open...it took a nap behind her couch, then strolled out.

I see Eagles every spring here...perched in trees overlooking sheep flocks. Not only humans like lamb...

BeyGon 08-15-2018 03:50 PM

I don't think there has ever been a case of a Bobcat like that attacking a human, unless they maybe try to pick up one of their babies or mess with the cat. They eat small animals, rabbits rodents and birds. One of our neighbors in Dana Point saw one in the back yard and called Animal Control, they just said leave it alone.

ben parrish 08-15-2018 04:40 PM

That snake is not hanging...it’s climbing up the foundation. Black snakes are very common in the south and they can go up any surface that has any “bite” to it. The block wall and plywood access door has plenty of bite for its scales to grab...notice it also it using the vents as a push point.

T77911S 08-16-2018 03:16 AM

snakes can climb better than you think. that pic is a prime example.
I had a pet snake, Burmese python. I was amazed at the places he could get to when he got out,

not a cottonmouth. way too long and skinny for one. cottons are shorter and stumpier. I have quite a few around here.

did not think about the neighbors cat being out all the time.
