Here's a good one for the haters :cool: We used a (then) new Ram 2500 Cummins 6.7L as our Medical Sweep vehicle at the SnoDrift Rally one year. A little tricky getting 7000 pounds and 700 lb-ft of torque down onto the ice and snow. On the few stages where we didn't have a crash or DNF to attend to, we were setting mid-field stage times. Fun stuff :eek:

Anyways update on my ram... The def system is bad. New tank, lines, ect on order. Covered by manufacturer warranty. |

Im convinced, decided not to fix the Cummins and will scrap it after selling what I can. It's hard to believe the systemic problems were never addressed and solved in the later years.

I purposely ordered a plain Jane manual everything truck so I would have less crap to break... Yet here I am. Delete and crack a g56, and lose powertrain warranty... Hmm Front end parts aren't too costly, and nothing more then I can fix in the driveway, or the MWR autoshop... Decisions decisions |

The licks keep coming.
Truck has been in the dealer for the last two weeks over a bad def tank. ie. the tank would only fill to 3/4 of the way, and tech was able to fill the last 1/4 by hand. "whatever that means" Well I get a call today saying I have diesel in my DEF tank. 5k+ repair. not covered by warranty. I've only used 2.5 gallon jugs of ad blue def, and suspect the dealer has a hand to play in this schit. They recommended I call my insurance company to file a claim so they can get paid...told them to put it back together and I'll be picking it up later today. I know they're going to try to charge me rate to diagnose. Can I simply tell them to **** off, and pick up the truck? |
Not much help here but I know how you feel....
I had a problem with a Jeep product a number of years back and that was my last vehicle from Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep. We had a Nissan X-Trail that I fondly called "The Last Nissan". Not to keep it to two manufacturers, my dad had one of the last runs of the 7.3 L Ford Powerstroke engines and suffered a turbo failure while under warranty that they blamed on the K&N air filter. |
Just off the phone with insurance. Not covered since it came into the dealership without this issue. should be covered by the dealer's insurance... They recommend I get into contact with corporate.
It looks like I am going to do the emissions delete if I can't get them to cover their mistake. |

Did they give you some theories as to how diesel got in the DEF tank?! The fill tube is, what, an inch diameter? No way it gets in there unless somebody wants it in there. :rolleyes: But without proof, what do you do?

I stated to the manager my issue was not caused by the contamination, but by the fact the def tank would not allow fluid past the 3/4's mark. And that the repair should have been done weeks ago, yet here we are twiddling our thumbs. Waiting on a ride to the dealership. Either it's ready or it's getting towed out of their incompetent hands. Good news though. The tuner, deletes, and exhaust shipped out today. |
I might have gone a little over board. Hindsight 4" turbo back is more then enough.

My old boss bought a new Cummins diesel to pull his 5th wheel. It was constantly in the shop or waiting for parts. He loved how it ran, when it ran.
Fiat’s spawn have consistently lived in the basement of Not Recomended by Consumer Reports for a good reason, they are poorly made and have high failure rates. When I am ready to buy a car I always research CR, NHTSA ratings, and JD Powers. Have NEVER had a lemon or been disappointed. Some folks just buy on looks, marketing hype and testosterone, like my old boss. |

What tuner did you go with?
I just had my first real issue in 90,000 miles / 6 years CEL for the DEF heating circuit. Read the code and took it in and was fixed that day. Ford extended the warranties for the DEF system so it was free. |
What dealer is this? I want to stay far away from them!
