Here's a good one for the haters We used a (then) new Ram 2500 Cummins 6.7L as our Medical Sweep vehicle at the SnoDrift Rally one year. A little tricky getting 7000 pounds and 700 lb-ft of torque down onto the ice and snow. On the few stages where we didn't have a crash or DNF to attend to, we were setting mid-field stage times. Fun stuff

Your comment is just plain silly.
Go ask real ram owners what they think I will be happy to know too!.
I have no horse in the race.
makes no difference to me.
Some years of Fords are just horrible also. You have to know which ones.
Gmc has got problems.
When Honda makes a one ton , I will go get a new truck.
Yeah, these guys only run them to 350k miles before deciding if they need replaced.

I know real Ram owners, most farmers have 1500s though but some haul horses and hay with the Cummins and the Aisen transmission. I know some people have issues and it happens across all brands. I know a guy that had an early 2000s Tundra taken back under the lemon law in CA for engine issues (gas in this case).

I wonder what a real ram owner is... Non eco diesel? Maybe the 6.7 with the G56?

I dunno. To each their own I guess. I've had 1/2,3/4, and 1 ton gas and diesel in most trucks. I haven't had the luxury of owning a 5.4 ford Though.... A Truck is a tool. I don't see the point of a chromed out 80k crew cab truck, nor the arrogant owners that run their truck in 4hi on the highway, and wonder why when the transfer case explodes.

Anyways update on my ram... The def system is bad. New tank, lines, ect on order. Covered by manufacturer warranty.

ummm no. no dodge will run to 350k miles. not one.
I have had 3 Cummins powered dodges and the last one had every issue described in afterburn549s post plus several more. in 16 months, it cost me over $20000 in repairs.

35k miles more like and they likely need replaced.

Im convinced, decided not to fix the Cummins and will scrap it after selling what I can. It's hard to believe the systemic problems were never addressed and solved in the later years.

You guys are making me sweat...
I purposely ordered a plain Jane manual everything truck so I would have less crap to break... Yet here I am. Delete and crack a g56, and lose powertrain warranty... Hmm

Front end parts aren't too costly, and nothing more then I can fix in the driveway, or the MWR autoshop...

Decisions decisions

The licks keep coming.
Truck has been in the dealer for the last two weeks over a bad def tank. ie. the tank would only fill to 3/4 of the way, and tech was able to fill the last 1/4 by hand. "whatever that means"
Well I get a call today saying I have diesel in my DEF tank. 5k+ repair. not covered by warranty.
I've only used 2.5 gallon jugs of ad blue def, and suspect the dealer has a hand to play in this schit.

They recommended I call my insurance company to file a claim so they can get paid...told them to put it back together and I'll be picking it up later today.

I know they're going to try to charge me rate to diagnose. Can I simply tell them to **** off, and pick up the truck?

Not much help here but I know how you feel....
I had a problem with a Jeep product a number of years back and that was my last vehicle from Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep.
We had a Nissan X-Trail that I fondly called "The Last Nissan".
Not to keep it to two manufacturers, my dad had one of the last runs of the 7.3 L Ford Powerstroke engines and suffered a turbo failure while under warranty that they blamed on the K&N air filter.

Just off the phone with insurance. Not covered since it came into the dealership without this issue. should be covered by the dealer's insurance... They recommend I get into contact with corporate.

It looks like I am going to do the emissions delete if I can't get them to cover their mistake.

Ordered a 5 inch turbo back, MM3 Tuner w/ single stock tune & all emissions crap deleted, and the EGR w/ cooler delete kit. Only 1,700$.

let's hope they don't play any games trying to get the truck back. I'm itching at bringing the police and filing a vandalism police report on behalf of the dealership...

Did they give you some theories as to how diesel got in the DEF tank?! The fill tube is, what, an inch diameter? No way it gets in there unless somebody wants it in there. But without proof, what do you do?

Nothing. Just call your insurance for a vandalism claim.... Which is bs

I stated to the manager my issue was not caused by the contamination, but by the fact the def tank would not allow fluid past the 3/4's mark. And that the repair should have been done weeks ago, yet here we are twiddling our thumbs.

Waiting on a ride to the dealership. Either it's ready or it's getting towed out of their incompetent hands.

Good news though. The tuner, deletes, and exhaust shipped out today.

My old boss bought a new Cummins diesel to pull his 5th wheel. It was constantly in the shop or waiting for parts. He loved how it ran, when it ran.

Fiat’s spawn have consistently lived in the basement of Not Recomended by Consumer Reports for a good reason, they are poorly made and have high failure rates.

When I am ready to buy a car I always research CR, NHTSA ratings, and JD Powers. Have NEVER had a lemon or been disappointed. Some folks just buy on looks, marketing hype and testosterone, like my old boss.

What tuner did you go with?

I just had my first real issue in 90,000 miles / 6 years CEL for the DEF heating circuit. Read the code and took it in and was fixed that day. Ford extended the warranties for the DEF system so it was free.

funny. that's the first code that the truck threw three months ago. Dealer Replaced the sending unit/pump/heater element assembly. Then they contaminated the def system, and voided my emissions warranty for the whole system. But then again, I had 30,000 miles on a 7 month old truck by the time the def system started to fail.

I'm running a MM3 tuner, on a single stock tune, all emissions equipment deleted. The other option on my truck was the ez-lynk. Around the same price. stock tune produces no smoke, and will pass an AZ opacity emissions test easily. I'm emissions exempt for the first 5 years, and after my county is exempt...
