Mrs WD is going on a youtube binge watching videoa of the Queen. She adores her music. I like her (Aretha), but not a huge fan.

My current band plays Chain Of Fools. Ms. Franklin's voice combined with Mr. Jamerson's bass line.

Thank you, my dear.

Yes, the world lost a GREAT one today. I didn’t know (until today) that she was the first female inducted into the rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame. She deserved it. What a voice. RIP Aretha.

Aretha is another one of those artists, once they pass you realize their music was a soundtrack to your life growing up and living.

David Bowie was another one, I never realized until he died how much his music was part of my life.

Yes, Duane and Jaimoe where both there but they were not considered "Swampers".

Duane and Jaimoe laid out the sound for The Allman Bros while there and approached Fame's owner, Rick Hall, about recording / managing them.

Rick didn't get it and turned them down.

Whoops.

Allegedly when they went to do that track Aretha said "..get me the skinny white guy..." and it was understood that meant Duane.

When you are the Grammy's, have Pavoratti slotted for a spot and he cancels at the last minute who you gonna call?

Disagree.

Sharon Jones.

When MTV popped up it certainly had that effect, appearance killed a lot of great emerging acts.

But we did get past that.

And Aretha was not an unattractive woman when she was young and first broke out.

Bit of an 'out there' coincidence as Elvis passed 41 yrs. to the day Aretha left.
The good Lord now has a great gospel duet for his house band.

RIP Aretha

"Hey Nineteen
That's 'Retha Franklin
She don't remember
The Queen of Soul
It's hard times befallen
The soul survivors
She thinks I'm crazy
But I'm just growing old"
