Fix minor issues before selling? Where to sell?

I'm starting the mental process of selling my 89 3.2 coupe, 112k miles, forest green metallic, and 15 years of ownership. I DIYed the top end with "all" of the while-you-are-in-there. Has camgrinder 964 cams and test pipe. New clutch and TOB.

There are a few things that should be addressed and I'm wondering how much more I'll get if they are addressed e.g.:
- shift knob needs recovering
- rattle in steering wheel
- large speaker cover in one door
- needs 3 tires (one front replaced recently)
- should I put the original leather seats back in or leave the Recaros
- no known engine issues - fresh oil in engine and trans
- now has Bilstein sport rear shocks - I don't mind the firm ride but new owner might
- some original tools missing
- should I do a compression and/or leakdown and have those numbers or leave it to the PPI shop?

Any of these potential drawbacks are easily addressed by someone that knows these cars but I'm not too enthused to jump in and fix things up. I'm putting my energy in other places now. I don't use the car for AX, AX instructing or track any more. It has about 5 track days. Back in the day it won or was second in many AX events in class. The car has a complete AC revamp from Kuehl.

Also where should I sell? BAT or Pelican? I'd rather someone see and drive the car and get it locally inspected.

Any advice appreciated. Thanks.

You'll always get more $ and interest with a perfect looking car... I would do all the cosmetic things you mention because they are not hard to do and convey a sense of a good ownership... The steering wheel rattle is probably begging for a sleeve you can put there..And tires... because needing 3 tires is no way to sell a car.

The rest (shocks/seats) is what it is... I'd put it on the classifieds here, unless you have no price in mind, in which case BaT. I would not bother with compression numbers, some folks will have a PPI done anyway, some might drive it and if it feels good won't bother...

^ agree

If you don't do the cosmetic stuff and the tires, a potential buyer will think you don't care about the car much. The shocks seats are your personal preference and could be the buyer's, too. If you do the compression/leakdown, good results could be considered not credible.

Where to sell? Ever thought of Bring A Trailer? They charge $99 to auction a car...so, $99 to the seller. The buyer pays 5% of the final sales price to BAT.

And yes, another vote for making the car look better prior to sale. "Original seats included in the sale"

A pretty nice looking G50 coupe (Guards red, very stock condition) sold for 56k the other day on BaT. How much money are you planning on leaving on the table because of some cosmetic items?

I know that there is a strong market for 911's in colors other than red white black or silver, so you could get a little bonus because of the Forest Green paint.

If it was mine, it would be new tires, a new FACTORY shift knob, reinstall the stock seats and have a professional detail it from stem to stern.. These are all tactile items that the potential buyer is going to notice immediately. All of that could be done for about 750 bucks or so, and it could potentially net you thousands in profit. Plus, you could sell the Recaros on craigslist for a few hundred extra.

Thats just me. I totally understand just wanting to move on.

If you aren't motivated to get top dollar and invest the time, just put it up for sale here on PP and get an enthusiast or flipper to take it off your hands.

I'll buy it, make me a deal!
