Considering that you get a low mileage normal GT for way less money I’d say somebody is praying for future collector value, not a daily driver. The fact that someone lost about $10k for 2,700 miles of driving is pretty sad.

Precisely why I'm driving my money out of mine. 9 plus years in, 28,000 trouble free miles. Future collectable value has always been a crap shoot...good luck to the fools who think they can beat that game.

What's the premium for it being a Bullitt and having 2,700 miles? What would a 10-30K V8 Mustang that's about 10 years old be worth normally?

Looking at eBay completed listings, it looks like $22,500 for this one was just under market value. Normal ones with 3-20K miles sold for $16-17K. Based on that, I'd rate this one a buy. Not too much of a premium for a somewhat special edition with some bona-fide upgrades. Looking at TrueCar for a lightly-equipped 2018 shows them going for about $33K or so. A lot more car for the money there, I think. Mustangs have always been a lot of car for the money. I think I paid $16,800 for a loaded 1989 5.0 LX Sport Convertible.

I think for a few thousand more, I'd get a Boss 302 or Shelby GT500. Probably more upside potential down the road...

Interesting link. I didn't know BAT had that feature. Anyway, I did drool a bit when the Boss 302's came out, especially the mechanical bits that moving up to a Laguna Seca gave. But I just couldn't get past the "boy racer" looks. I think Bullitts demand and get a premium over the regular GT's is because of their (admittedly minor) performance upgrades, and the understated looks. Gt500? Never much a fan of huffer engines, prefer a better balanced naturally aspirated ride. Not sure about the potential upside...very few Mustangs become sought after by collectors.

Some also go for low production numbers. Both '08 and '09 Bullitts, a total of 6,582 made. 4975 in Green, 1607 in black. I suppose if you want the absolute lowest number made, you'd look for an '09 in Black. Only 181 of those, 629 in Green.
Mine, strut number 6380, is a Green '09.

No doubt the 5.0 cars have more power. In truth, I seldom use the 315 available to me. So, as with all cars, it depends on what you want. To Ford's credit, the Mustang comes in many ranges of performance...if you want one with great MPG numbers, they make it. If you want to be a road course track day guy, they make it. Drag strip? Sure, no problem.

With this one? From my experience, somebody just bought a nice daily driver with many trouble free miles in it's future. Or...can join the hood up cars and coffee set if that's his bag.

You want economy.in a full sized car. A friend has a 63 Galaxy coupe with a 2 barrel 6 cylinder and a 3.0 rear end. 3 speed on the column. Great mileage.

I was referring to a buyer's intentions. For $22.5 one could buy a new Accord maybe..or this low miles Mustang. The modular 4.6 is a pretty sturdy powerplant. Many of them out there with well past 100,000 miles.

Reading the auction comments, the original owner died... this Mustang was a part of his "collection", a semi driver. His other cars are going through a more traditional collector car auction. He seemed to like Brit stuff...old MG's with legit race history, a lotus Formula Junior, etc.

A semi sad & oft repeated story...hanging on to cars until the bitter end, then leaving it up to the widow to dispose of it all. One of the reasons, actually the big reason I sold the 911S a decade ago...didn't want Cindy to deal with the vultures and sharks. They were already circling, fins visible.

Tabby..tell me, can that '63 Galaxy with the tall rear end outdrag a goodyear blimp?

Looking at car fax info on Jaguar's.

160,000 miles on a modern Jaguar should be no problem. Not many over the 160K mark for me to judge out to 200,000.

It does seem most of what wears on cars is time, plastic parts, rubber parts.

Disuse allows these to crack easier than regular use.

Hard use also cracks them.

Ideally a car driven at night from a garage to a garage would be the ticket.

Miles and wear will not be linear from car to car and user to user. That is the important part.

A car can be worn out at zero miles if it was dropped from 100 feet off a cargo ship.

One reason we bought Cindy a base 4 banger Camry for grocery getting was my "honorary nephew's" last car...he was here often, using my tools and ramps to change it's oil. A pool player, seemed he was always driving to one tournament or another. A '97 Camry, bought for $2,400 with 124,000 miles on it. When it finally died earlier this year? 346,000! I did convince him to use Mobil 1...and he changed whenever he thought about it, probably around 8,000 miles.

Not many cars can match that life, I suppose. But hell...driving a Camry on long hauls?

Say I had a 500 miles or better drive to take. '09 Mustang Bullitt or a '16 Toyota Camry? Bullitt wins...every time.
