got a new (used) ride

bought a Kubota 2920 with 165hrs 17k.
wanted it for 16.5, but wife said just buy it. already waited him out down from 18.9.

been looking for a very very long time and could not justify the $$. was originally looking for one below 15k. was really looking at the BX25 but this one is a little bigger. almost bought a bx25 with 100hrs for 16.5k and it had a mower on it but I figured I could get this one for about the same price.

got to get some new windows put in then I can start playing with the tractor.
my backhoe skills need a lot of work. the boom control is VERY sensitive. yes light touch. but even with the lightest touch it jerks and moves very fast. moving the bucket away from the tractor is much smoother. I am hoping with use it will be less sensitive. yesterday practiced just moving it, not even digging. trying to keep bucket level to the ground when pulling back in like I am digging.

That will become your go to tool. So expands what you can do yourself!
I wish Mine had a back hoe. I'm in early stages of landscaping a new place, that digging ability would be so useful.

I bought an older rig and ended up spending big on redoing the hydrolics.
Some times more spent up front is really a savings.

My John Deeres as well, I have a 214 with rototiller, a 955 with 72" mower, and FEL, and a separate 310 backhoe with front and rear buckets. I use them all, all the time.

Thousands and thousands of hours on my three tractors over the years and it is all about, as you know, the maintenance.

That is really well bought, T and will be a game changer.

BTW, get an electric grease gun.

Edit: One more thing. Backhoes take practice and your skim the ground routine is excellent. Next, try and pick up a cinder block with just the bucket since it looks like you have a grabber on the backhoe.

yea I can pick things up pretty good. it ahs the thumb which I need because I built a wall out of railroad ties and now I can pick them up with this instead by me. another reason I bought.
same wall project:
my yard slopes down to the ditch so I put in the wall to raise it. once the wall is down I am going to move my "very sandy dirt" down towards the ditch then bring in real dirt. already did some with a tractor I borrowed and now I have grass where I put the dirt. never had grass there before

in the pic you can see the grates. I need to dig up the coquina rock there and put in a ramp for the pad. then I am going to get more coquina for drive and parking area behind me in the pic.

gotta replace a septic line for a grey water septic tank.

just something to play with because I always wanted one.

I may get a bushhog to cut the neighbors field to fro something to do.

already dug up a few stumps

need to cut down a very large oak. I can now pick up big logs to put in the burn pile

any advice on box blades.
missed out on a good deal for a used one. 5ft for 350.

prices seem to be everywhere.
used Kodiak 4ft for 425
new 5ft for 550.
new Jbar 4ft for 385. also new 4ft jbar bush hog for 675

I am guessing as far a box blade cheap is not that big a deal but for a bush hog cheap is not good.
got to be careful with weight. I think I can only do about 500lbs.

Not from me...I have never owned one.

I do all my road work with the front end loader working/driving backwards like a box scrapper. I angle the front of the loader as required and apply pressure as needed.

I have gotten really good at it over the last 24 years!

Check out Tractor Supply if you have one close. They have their own brand of implements ("CountyLine"), but obviously they are made by somebody else for Tractor Supply. I bought a tiller from them that was actually made by Tarter. Tills just about anything. They carry all kinds of stuff - bush hogs, box blades, etc. - they have a lot and prices are pretty good and they have pretty good sales on occasion. Here I am tilling my old horse riding ring:

I did pretty good on my first project, replacing a grey water septic leach line.
probably went overboard as I could have gotten away with a single bucket wide trench,

its still hard to operate the backhoe smoothly. the boom is the problem. even if I only want to move the boom and try very very hard to just barely move it, when it starts to move it jerks real bad. other problem is It wont always let me operate 2 controls at once.

funny thing is moving the boom/dipper stick out at the same time I can do pretty smoothly, its just coming back in.

going to order a boxblade from everything attachments. cant find a used one

I have two older Kubotas. One is a grey market equivalent to a 7100DT, which I use to pull/tow/carry things around. I think it probably has a million hours on it but is dependable as the day is long - in fact both are. The other is an L frame with an FEL, box scraper, lifting forks, & landscape rake. I love them both and continually think of buying a new L frame, but mine only has 720 hours and the specs on new ones aren't any better than mine. Seems like your back hoe might need some kind of adjustment. I've operated several of them but never had one be so sensitive to touch.
