Yet another darn Sig

Went plastic this time. XCarry in 9mm. it's nothing like the all metal p series guns in terms of feel. very top heavy feeling and of course no decocker which is something I love on my 226 and 225. but I had to try it.

thus far I have two complaints. one is the trigger bites my finger. this is apparently somewhat common and there are options to deal with it. second issue is its just not built like a metal p series and you find this when breaking it down/putting back together. it can be somewhat finicky.

hows it shoot? well it friggin hits what you are aiming at. slow fire at 20yds offhand I shoot it better than my other two guns. at typical pistol distances it's a tough call and I'll reserve judgement till have a chance to do some drills that I've timed myself on with the other guns. I suspect it'll be a hair faster. the trigger bite however very much tames my enthusiasm for the gun. it has the straight trigger which seems to be a bit of a fad these days.

shown with the also new custom double layer kydex holster. its a bit flashy but I figured hey it's a flashy/gaudy gun so why not have a flashy/gaudy holster to go with it!

also worth mentioning these guns won't go fully into battery if you ride the slide closed. you either slingshot or use the slide release and let 'er go. supposedly related to the tight fitting build. in actual use I had zero problems over 250 rounds.

if you want to experience what Sig handguns are all about this is not the gun to buy. but if you want a variation on the Glock this is a very good option. the grip shape, for me, on the x guns is much better than any Glock I've held/owned. on the xcarry you get the xray 3 sights which I like very much and recently had added to my p225a1. nice big green dot up front and very subdued rear dots. Sig also has a full sized model similar to this which is the x-five. 21 round magazine, included magwell and Dawson fiber bar front sight. I liked the xcarry size better.

Sorry Mom....but that's a yugly spoon....I don't care how it shoots . Seriously though....I don't like all the sharp edges, etc....if you wanna shoot a cheaper version with a mighty sweet trigger and just a great, cheaper spoon....Ruger LC9S

but then I handled one and was like man I gotta try this and see if it shoots well. it may not stay with me due to the trigger bite and I've got a 20ga duck gun to buy this year that this would almost cover. initially I wanted it as a rainy day gun for IDPA shoots where I wouldn't be stressed about getting it wet. the entire chassis is removable so thorough cleaning is a snap. and the Mr. Rogers of handguns, Hickock45, said good things about the 320 series overall.

the mag release and feel of insert on the mags is the best I've tried on any gun. it will absolutely be a faster gun to reload in matches.

Wow, you're the first person I've heard of who has a 320 XCarry! I got tired of waiting for a Xcarry so I got a 320 X-Five and have no complaints about it at all. Interesting that you say the trigger bites your finger, what's exactly happening?

My 226 and 226 Legion SAO are still my favorite Sigs. Still waiting on Grayguns to get the flat triggers back in stock so I can equip my 226 with it... absolutely love flat triggers! The Geissele SDE has been my go-to trigger for years on the AR too. Super quick and accurate followup shots using flat triggers for me.

Have you seen the P365 too? It's one that I'd be most interested in carrying. Everyone I know that has one loves it.

not sure whats happening with the bite. its so fast that you can't really isolate the exact moment. it could be my finger getting pinched between trigger and guard during recoil or could be high freq vibration from firing.

365 too small for me and honestly this is likely to be my only foray into drastic plastic. the xcarry feels very much like the xfive as the grip is the same, just cut down. the barrel I think is not quite as heavy as the xfive but it does have a target crown.

Hmmm could it possible that your finger pad is not completely on the trigger, or maybe your finger is placed a bit low on the trigger? I didn't have too much of an issue switching over to flat triggers. The factory curved trigger on my 226 would make my thumb kind of hurt after 300rds, while I've had no issues with flat triggers.

I've got some modified Glocks, but still almost always gravitate to using my Sig's and CZ's.

Completely different guns, obviously, but the various single action revolvers I enjoy are notorious for the finger pinch. Some are worse than others. It's the way they pivot back in the hand under recoil - the trigger and trigger guard are actually moving moving forward and up, so the trigger finger gets pinched between the bottom of the trigger and the trigger guard. I bet you are experiencing the same thing. My cheap and easy solution has always been to simply shorten the trigger and really bevel or round the corner on it.

Thanks Higgy, I will most likely try that. The plastic frame would also lend itself to a bit of sanding of the inside of the trigger guard.

Do sa revolvers tend to have straighter triggers? I suppose a more curved trigger helps avoid this.

Not as curved as a double action trigger, but a bit of a curve nonetheless.



I've never had this problem with a double action. Their triggers have a lot more curve to them.
