These idiots took incompetence to a new level and killed 11 critically endangered black rhinos.

Salt water kills rhinos

I mostly blame the limp-dicked, pathetic, morons who think that rhino horn will fix their malfunctioning joint. There are pills for that sort of thing FFS!! Next I blame the sick poachers who kill and butcher these poor rhinos.

Sound slike there was plenty of incompetence to go around, but I dont think it was the poachers (who I think should be left out in the savanna naked with the lions) who killed these animals this time. It sounds like greed and ineptitude if they are pushing railways through the area.

There are many regions worldwide where incompetence like this happens with regularity. A tragedy for us, but in places where human rights are basically nill, this will not even register.

I don't see incompetence, I see an "I don't give a ***** attitude" from the people involved. They'd been warned the area wasn't suitable for the habitat but went ahead with it. Then they hid the water test results from the vet who was treating the animals when they first got sick. They got the same results they would have gotten if they'd put the rhinos on a boat and set it adrift out on the ocean.

Self important people with massive egos. Nothing to back it up. The world is full of people like this. They seek out positions of power and authority wherein no one can challenge them. When they push through decisions like this, their decisions, they feel as if they have "won". They got their way. That is all that is important to them. Results don't matter - in most cases, they are not meaningfully tracked or measured, so there is no way to hold them accountable. In this case, even though there very clearly is a way to "track and measure", I will be surprised if their accountability goes beyond simply losing their jobs - only to nab another one just like it in a similar organization. Infuriating...

I work for a massive bureaucracy... unfortunately the higher ups usually have unknowing fall guys set up and working under them that take the hit for these bad decisions.
