which car to rent for a week in Seattle

We're going to spend a week in Seattle. The missus was thinking of going with something more than your average rental car.

What rental company do you like, or are there any that you really dislike?

And if you were going to rent something, and you were going to be driving in the mountains, what would you want to rent?

There's a company called "silver car" that only rents Audis, they've got an A4, A5 cab and Q5.

Then most of the regular car companies have various options including things like a mustang/camaro/challenger, Infiniti Q50 or 60. It seems some website that I was looking at even had an AMG C63, although the cost for that is pretty ridiculous.

Thoughts?

Are you going to be in downtown many days? I’d skip a car if that’s the case

Pretty sure in seattle your only options are a prius or subaru.
Or you could snag an airplane .....

We'll probably stay the first night in Seattle, then the next night in Carnation, then the next 3 (maybe 4) nights in CleElum's cabin (including a trip to Mt St Helens), then the last 2 nights (sans vehicle) in Seattle. We need a car.

Rough estimate is that we'll be putting 800-900 miles on whatever we rent while we're there.

Very cool, but those are a bit more $pecial than I was thinking considering it will be a week long rental.

1985 Merc 380SL $125/day
2017 Corvette $397/day
2016 Miata $79/day
2008 Cayenne $98/day
2014 Boxster $129/day
Various Teslas $98-248/day

1965 Mustang $94/day
and the piece de resistance
2012 Aston Martin V8 Vantage $796/day

Hmm, the airplane route sounds interesting. All the loops and barrel rolls you can do, but I'm a little worried about the landing. ;^)

I've done Silvercar a few times, they have a first time discount that makes it about the same as a Ford whatever car.

Car rental for the internet generation. Stripped down facilities, no bottle of water when you arrive, yadda yadda...but an impressive car with some nice accessories, for surprisingly cheap.

I just speced it. 7 days with Silvercar (A4 with no insurance), with the discount I get via my credit card: $343 total.

7 days in a "Jetta or Equivalent" from Avis, after a discount, $384.

No brainer Boyz

I have a good friend who is a pilot for SW Airlines. He uses Silvercar frequently and recommends them.
