Welcome to M town

I shake my head at BMW's new ad campaign for M Town. "the ideal home for all petrolheads and horsepower enthusiasts" who polish the rims in the video but never crack the hood. It's scenes of people driving like A holes on city streets by flooring it leaving the parking garage, drifting at toll booths and drop off circles-think of a Honda tweaker swap meet closing down but with suits driving more expensive iron. BMW is trying to hook millenials with Fast N Furious imagery but I'm shocked this is the direction of their brand. All with sweet music in the background like a Clockwork Orange ultraviolence scene.

"M town" must be somewhere in England because of the narrators accent, odd for a german car. Avoid that town if possible before you get sideswiped. You can tell if you are getting close because "the air is filled with the sweet scent of burnt rubber"

I am not the kind of person TV adds are made for.

So I won't say what works or doesn't based on my own ideas.

I do consider a lot of advertising to be negative, I'll remember it and grab the other company's product off the shelf.

I'm likely a minority.

Whatever, the M brand jumped the shark years ago when they started dubbing the engine soundtrack through the speakers. Motorsports used to mean bespoke engines and hand-built cars that were genuinely special. Now they are just hot rod versions of standard models.

That ad might as well have been, "Welcome to BMW Lazy Town":
