Car maintenance advice from a woman?

In general, how do you feel about taking car maintenance advice from a woman?

Both the male and female service advisors at the Chevy and Toyota places just repeat what the the manual says. If they talk to a tech they just repeat what he says. I've never encountered a service advisor male or female that I thought knew anything about cars.

The same as advice from anyone else : It better be supported by good logic and arguments.
Else I'll just dismiss it.

I ran across these comments from women in:

https://www.toyotaarlington.com/blog/2017/02/20/5-signs-your-automatic-transmission-is-failing/

I just began to ponder this question myself.

Caitlyn, How does one regularly inspect the transmission?

Not sure...meaning, depends on the person, not what's between the legs. I wouldn't take advice from my wife. But from her niece? Probably so, since she has technical and engineering degrees, works in the aircraft industry, engine design...

There's ALWAYS someone smarter than you men and women, so I'm sure there's women out there that could give me auto maintenance advice. There are women who could teach me about exercise or working out or shooting or driving or auto maintenance etc, etc.... I generally assume everyone, man or woman, is a moron until they prove otherwise, so I'm equally unlikely to believe or take advice from men as women. I'm sure our Angela could probably teach me a thing or 100 about cars/motors/maintenance.

Just had this conversation last week:

her: How much would it be to replace the spark plugs in my car?
me: Why?
her: Because the car doesn't run right. I think it needs a tune up.
me: What do you mean it doesn't run right? Does it run rough? What is it doing?
her: It won't go like it used to.
me: Explain...
her: Well, like it used to go really fast when the light turned green but now it doesn't. I have to stomp on it to make it go. People are going around me because I'm going too slow.
me: Uh, okay. I'll take a look at it.

I go to the driveway and get in to start it up and the floor mat is wadded up under the accelerator pedal. I move it back, clip it to the holder so it doesn't slide forward anymore and sat in the garage for 20 minutes listening to the radio and moving stuff around. Next day she thanked me for fixing her car and wanted to know how much she owed me for replacing the spark plugs.

Is there something about women that their brains don't comprehend engines like a man...

Last week I had to argue with the Service manager at Porsche to get them to rotate my tires. He said in 15 years at Porsche, he had never had anyone do a tire rotation. What?

Women and men alike don't know much about cars.

Hard to do a rotation on many Porsche cars with different sizes on front and back, and directional tires too.

Cheers Richard

Crap, if that's what that means, then I need to change my answer.

My direct experience:

My older sister was brain damaged at birth. Never had any social skills.

In 1994 it got worse when she was hit by a car while jogging. In a coma for a week.

After that, her job was a service writer for the largest car dealer west of the Mississippi.....

When she picked up her new car at the dealer, she hit a concrete post before she got out of the lot......

I do my own service, thank you......

My horror is a woman on the cell phone directing the show when her husband is in my shop with the phone stuck to his ear. Worse is the boyfriend in the background, giving a lady instructions to relay to me. "Did you check the proportioning valve" "I don't have to, your master cylinder is bad". "But you need to check the proportioning valve".
