Skinny tires are:
Better for mileage because of surface area, More predictable because of load distribution with tire wall flexing and feedback harmonics which is all tire, And better in plowing through the snow because to small contact patch dynamics.

Read about the greatest Fangio he could tell you a thing or to about skinny tires,
with the seat of his pants. In case you have never read about him, he drove by the feel in the seat of his pants like no other driver, thats why he was world champion 5 times.,and yes on skinny tires. Tires? All tires were skinny when I was a kid, remember reading about Spa-Francorchamps, Fangio and Moss in R&T.
Driving in only an open-face helmet, wearing a short-sleeved t-shirt and street clothes... Also, Malmedy (a corner on the track) was the scene of a terrible Nazi massacre of dozens of captured US soldiers in WW2... famous. Was portrayed in "Band of Brothers".... Machine-gunned in the snow.
