todays article on him, turns out he has one leg longer than the other (seriously), I'm sure that will be used as an argument in court!

Briton stranded in Dubai after he was caught speeding 33 times | Daily Mail Online

You need to be seriously stupid to get into trouble in that part of the world in my opinion!

Indeed!

Flights there from the Uk are cheap because it is such a hub, so the draw of potentially nice hotels and good weather is a draw!

The tickets are on whoever owns the car, wow. Can't imagine how that could ever work out to it being a good idea to rent exotic cars in that country.

If the car owner, is liable for the tickets, and if the Brit paid the fines, would that mean the car now belongs to him?

Guy was talking about the car getting impounded. Is that where all those abandoned supercar pics come from, Dubai police impound lot?

I see you are in Scotland, that is very high on my list of places to visit. We just did Ireland, we are off to Greece (wife wants to go there) then I want to get to Scotland and back to Ireland as well.

Car rental guy said he warned the driver about the cameras and then when the car's onboard computer notified the rental company of the speeding they texted the driver again about the cameras. Driver's got to be some kind of stupid.

Looks like the guy ended up paying.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/7118499/brit-tourist-rent-lamborghini-dubai-fines/

Quote:
Mr Hashi paid the hefty fine after reaching an agreement with police and the car rental agency, believing he could then return home to Newport, South Wales.

But despite Mr Hashi settling his fine with police, Saeed Ali Rent a Car is now seeking compensation for the 16-day period the car sat outside Mr Hashi's hotel, the posh Five Palm Jumeirah.

"The British tourist cannot leave the country until he pays the car rental agency about Dh50,000 (£10,500)," an official from the city's traffic police said.

Mohammed Ibrahim, 36, who runs Saeed Ali Rent a Car, told the UAE newspaper The National he will not let the outstanding amount go unpaid.

He said: "I lost money when the vehicle spent days parked in front of the hotel.

"He rented the car for three days and returned it after 16 days. Renting such a vehicle costs Dh3,500 [£740] per day.

"[Hashi] told me before that he would send me the money after returning to Britain. There is no guarantee that Hashi will send me [£10,500] if he goes back.

"I am taking legal measures to get this money. I told him about the speeding fines when he rented the car and not to drive faster than 120kph [74mph] on Sheikh Zayed Road."

Ibrahim also claims the canary yellow Lamborghini has since lost its appeal with customers.

"I have to change the colour of the car and the plate number," he said. "No one wants to drive this car!"
