That is unpleasant but also unusual when the clutch takes the brunt of it and not the transmission. Maybe the clutch was weak and you dodged a bullet, especially if it was up for replacement soon.
This of course does not change the equation of letting people drive your car. Nothing good can come of it. Old 911s are tough cars but really don’t tolerate certain kinds of abuse related to shifting.
