Whats up with Yeti brand products?

I used to see just their coolers. They are about as nice as a $400-500 plastic cooler can possibly be. But the price!!?? I never saw the reason for anyone to buy one for that kind of money. And before you say, "My Yeti will keep ice frozen all summer long", did you check the price before you bought it? What ev.

Well now they have topped it all. You can buy a plastic 5 gal bucket with the Yeti brand stamped on it, for a whooping $39.99. Its a 5 gal plastic bucket folks. Lowes sells them for 2.99 I think. And you dont have to worry about scratching it. I will give them this- The bucket it thick, nice handle. But again, $40?

More power to 'em. But its like plastic sunglasses for $2-300. Crazy margins.

Behold the most amazing 5 gal bucket you will ever see...

They are a sponsor to the TV show "Life Below Zero", which chronicles different people that live in Alaska most of which live above the Arctic Circle. Funny that they would need to keep ice frozen all summer...

My .02 is that they are a status symbol and part of a country song.

Looks like they filmed that video in somebody's back yard retaining pond.

Yeti stickers are right up there with "salt life" stickers.

I always thought Yeti was the Starbucks of plastic stuff. All marketing.

The need to lock up the cooler back at camp because it cost more than my first car is a problem I'll never have. My big ol' Coleman works fine, just like the day I bought it for about 25 bucks about 25 years ago..

I've seen these and it is marketing. I see them at the counter area at the hardware store. I was given a yeti beer can cooler and have to say it feels like your holding a brick after all the beer is gone. I wouldn't pay a dime for it.

In Louisiana the fishing industry uses Yetis a lot. They do a phenomenal job in keeping fresh catch on ice for a much longer period than a standard ice chest. However for the home owner its the name. Logically speaking, your gonna spend $400 to save a $1 bag of ice??

I'm seeing Yeti stuff popping up everywhere lately. What a fantastic marketing job they've done. They've convinced people - who are usually within an easy drive to a party store with $1 bags of ice - of the need to spend $500 on a cooler that will keep the $1 bag of ice frozen for 5 days.

I see their stuff all the time, they're headquartered here. I have no need for their over priced stuff. Hell, I was given a koozie, which at the time was supposed to be the holy grail of koozies, and re-gifted it. It didn't fit my beer can. They didn't quite do their homework on that one.

Okay, that does add some value, still not paying $400 for one!

We vacationed in OBX last week, 1 clothing store had these as a center piece on the men's side. I was curious and they had a 45 qt cooler priced $349.00. The 60 qt - $399.................

I told the clerk that I just saw the world's most expensive cooler. Not only that but was really heavy. I could not imagine the weight of a full 60 qt unit.

AND a whole line of Yetti merch; clothes, socks, stickers........
