I have cable - but also an antenna TV out on my front deck.
I love watching many of the shows I grew up with. I've always considered the original Hawaii Five-O to be one of the best ever. It also doesn't hurt that as a horticulturist, there's plenty of eye candy to enjoy! Just like Magnum PI. The channel is called H&I - Heroes and Icons. I'm watching the Pilot, Episode 1 right now. There will be 4 more episodes today right after this one, then 5 more per week every Friday at Noon, ET. They always had some great guest stars. Today it's Leslie Nielsen, Andrew Duggan, Nancy Kwan, and the bad guys Soon-Tek Oh and Khigh Dhiegh as Wo Fat.... ![]() Jack Lord - Legend!

I have the whole series on DVD. I love the Five-Oh cars. In the pilot Steve drives a Mercury Marquis (my favorite) and later a Mercury Parklane. Always black with red interior.
Some good info here: https://www.hagerty.com/media/archived/hawaii-5-0/

Watched that as a kid whenever possible. Stunning intro music and visuals. Jack Lord was interesting- an artist. The islands stole the show. Loved the Mercs, too.

Looks like I don't have the H&I channel with my Dish pkg (channel 293). I keep seeing the Pluto channel has stuff I want to see for free, so I downloaded the app for free.
Looks like the pilot is Season 1, Episode 0, which is not in there. Dammit, Baz! I'll need to hunt down the pilot "Cacoon." Dammit, Baz! Well, it was fun to see the intro again. Looks like Danno has been eating the Spice.

"Cocoon" is a two-part episode. So 2 hours total.
Here's your episode guide: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062568/episodes?season=1 The character of Danny was played by a different actor (Tim O'Kelly) in the pilot than in the rest of the series (James MacArthur). The governor also...Lew Ayres vs. Richard Denning. Lot of great episodes. Season 3, Episode 11 "Over fifty? Steal." featuring Hume Cronyn is one I really liked. It was great watching these today, although I missed the last one because I had promised to bring a fish dinner over to Mom. Mom turns 99 next month so an easy decision to make there....

Jack lord had a lot of input and control of the show. Zulu (Kono) was a popular Hawaiian comedian before the show. Jack Lord had him fired for making a racial slur during the fourth season. I was talking with Eric Braeden on "Young And The Restless" who did a few episodes of the old show. He said Jack wasn't the most outgoing and gregarious actor he had worked with. Kind of kept to himself.

I've been watching it as well from the beginning. A local station airs old sitcoms and older drama series.
It's pretty hokey but I like watching it to see what actors have been on the show. Craigster59 is correct about continuity. One scene you will see the older 4 door Mercury, then they arrive at a crime scene with the newer Marquis. Ford must have provided the vehicles because most of the vehicles were new Ford products. The last season James MacArthur (Danno) decided not to return. William Smith (Kimo) took his place. It's not the same without Book Him Danno There's only 2 episodes left for me.

One of the oldies stations here (ME-TV I think) ran the whole series a few years ago. I saw every one.
I was waiting for it to return one day because I like the show so much. My old routine when I was working full time was to try and be back home for lunch every day to watch my show, grab a bite, regroup, re-load my truck, and get in another half day of work. Over the years "my show" changed as they ran out of episodes. Quite a few times they kept running them back over again - which bugged me - instead of bringing in a new one. "The Rockford Files", "The Big Valley", "Gunsmoke" are a few that come to mind. "Star Trek" is back at the 8pm slot now on H&I. Tonight's episode is when they were sent back to the shootout at the OK corral. The creativity of all these shows on so many levels is why I enjoy them so much. Also the character development. When TV went into reality TV they basically just waved the white flag and surrendered knowing they could never match what went before them...
