281 episodes- Jack Lord was in all of them (the only one). Take a look at all the actors that appeared in 1-2 episodes:

Jack Lord was like the William Shatner of detective shows.

If you have an Amazon fire stick or Fire TV you can download an app called Pluto. It's free and pretty sure it streams H50 24/7. Along with Baywatch, Barker era TPIR, Love Boat, etc - all 24/7.

And even the Hawaiian Tradewinds were no match for his "helmet hair".

I remember he was also an artist. I didn't realize he left $40 million to Hawaii. An interesting guy!

Get off my lawn!

We lived in Hawaii when the series started. His headquarters was supposed to be in the ʻIolani Palace at the time. That building was a dilapidated wreck back then in reality. They finally restored it and it is habitable again and is now a museum as I remember.
Anyway on one episode a tourist is in a tour bus is driving down the street in front of the palace and she takes a picture of the palace with her Kodak 110 Instamatic, through the window, just as a bad guy is leaving. the 5-O team somehow figure out she took a photo. They develop the film, and make a picture of the bad guy and have a nice clear print in the morning meeting. Now a 110 negative was the size of a Lima bean, and the camera had a plastic lens. In real life when we made a 8x10 print from a customer 110 neg is was grainy and not very sharp when it was a photo of 4 family members taken from 6 feet back. On the show the photo of the bad guy was a very clear 16x20 cropped to just his head and shoulders. I bet it was shot with a Hassleblad or some medium format camera, in a studio with nice lighting. In reality it would have been some few dozens grains of film in a blurry blob. I about fell of of my chair when I saw that part of the episode and realized TV is totally 100% make believe, and has no basis in reality. It was the equivalent of one episode of CSI where a video camera on an ATM took a photo of a car across the street and they could read the license tag.

That one was crazy, they did a version on the rebate too, just like the did one with Ed Asner as the same same character he played in the original series.
Jack Lord was definitely a very interesting man, business savvy, which is why he was only in the one Bond film. You gotta love Google, you can watch these old TV shows, Google and find out all sorts of cool stuff. |

When Leonard Freeman, producer of H50 passed away in 1974, Jack Lord stepped in as "show runner" even though he was never credited as a producer. He pretty much called the shots on the show for the rest of it's 12 season run.

Interesting tidbit. Steve McGarrett, the original, was a Navy JAG Lt. Steve McGarrett, the redux, was a SEAL Lt. Commander.

The fantastic character actor, Harold Gould, was in today's first episode!
I've always enjoyed his work!
