*Sigh* We lost another one of the greatest artists of our time.

Have you noticed that Grace hasn't said one word? Wife wife thinks that there was bad blood between them cause before Grace, Marty was the better vocalist in the band. Once Grace arrived he became BGV

Every Fillmore concert that featured the Airplane and the Dead that I attended, the Jefferson Airplane was the superior group. Marty Balin was one of the reasons.

I loved his voice. Today. Coming Back to Me.. Just a real wonderful writer and voice.

3/5 of a Mile in Ten seconds. Plastic Fantastic Lover.

What a great memory I have watching the Airplane perform many, many times when
I hung out in SF in the summer of 67.

Marty's voice was so real and deep. I loved the guy.
Later, after the Jefferson Airplane, I didn't connect with the guy musically.

RIP.

It's really hard to say anything about her regarding Marty's death. She made a deliberate departure from anything and everything regarding her music career, including skipping their induction into the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame. She has deliberately led a very quiet, private life for many years. Her choice not to say anything doesn't really say anything. It's really none of our business.

That song may be one of their best. The entire Red Octopus album was a stunner. Marty had a great voice but Grace could put anybody in the shade. She might have been the best female rock vocalist ever.

Marty may be gone but the music will be around forever.

But you have nine lives. Well, eight now. That's still a lot.

Marty had a full life. I'd like to think there is a Rock and Roll Heaven.

I met him a few times when I lived in Tampa. He had his demons.

You are equating being popular with being good. McDonald's is popular but is it good?

If you ain't living large in a mansion you are not successful. They have you brainwashed.

Not everything that is popular is good, but music did progress beyond the 1960s.

You seem to have a preoccupation with a certain era of music, God forbid we should get back on the subject of the Rolling Stones.

No I will just stick to the city that rock and roll built.

I will take that to be an oblique reference to their most commercials tune ever, rendered in the twilight of their careers...
