Drink Recipes

Anyone have any drink recipes they'd like to share?

Here's one that I came up with...

Sightly less unhealthy LIT:

In a 12oz glass:
-Fill half with ice
-Three tablespoons of Splenda
-2oz of Rum (or liquor(s) of your choice)
-2oz of Triple Sec
-2oz of Lemon juice
-Fill remainder of glass with Coke Zero

Sounds horrible, but that's just me.
For me when I'm not mixing it myself, it's 1/3 gin, 1/3 tonic, 1/3 club soda. Simple but effective, and it's easier to convey to a bartender than "Tangueray martini, very dry, up with two olives," which is my drink of choice. They seldom get it cold enough and never get the "very dry" part. If they ask I tell them to wave the vermouth bottle at the glass. That's the perfect dry martini.
I am perplexed by all the martini choices now. Who the hell makes a martini with anything but gin and vermouth (and hold the vermouth)?

Here is a couple that I really like.

G+T with lime. May on occasion be mixed as a 50/50. Few cubes, slice of lime.

Scotch + one cube.

Canadian Rye Whiskey + Few cubes....

That's all I have.

Hmmm, with just rum, it's not really a LIT, at least, not in Houston. Around here, LIT has Vodka, Gin and Rum (all of the clear liquors). I could see it being good if you like LIT (never been my thing).

Weird, I could see that being tasty, but I can't see myself buying a bottle of cucumber vodka to find out.

Hmm, the missus likes a "French 75"
I make them for her with this recipe https://www.epicurious.com/recipes/food/views/french-75-242668

Ingredients

1 lemon
3 tablespoons (1 1/2 ounces) gin
1 1/2 tablespoons (3/4 ounce) fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon (1/2 ounce) simple syrup
1 cup ice cubes
1/4 cup (2 ounces) dry sparkling wine, such as brut Champagne, chilled

Preparation

Using zester or paring knife, slice peel from lemon in long, thin spiral. Reserve lemon for another use and set peel aside.
In cocktail shaker, combine gin, lemon juice, and simple syrup. Add ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Strain into chilled Champagne flute and top with sparkling wine.
Curl lemon peel around finger to create twist at least 6 inches long. Garnish drink with twist and serve immediately.

She also likes a "Kir Imperial" or "Kir Royale."

Kir Imperial
3/4 oz Chambord in a champagne flute
fill the rest of the glass (4.5-5 oz) with Champagne

Kir Royale (saa except uses Creme de Cassis)

When I was younger, I liked something called an "Absolute Confusion"
shot of vodka (absolute)
few ozs of "sweet n sour"
shot of 7-up
dash of grenadine

Also, favorites for folks that like sweet drinks (kind of like the LIT above)
Peach Tea
vodka
rum
peach schnapps
OJ
grenadine
7-up

Raspberry Tea
vodka
rum
raspberry liquor
sweet n sour
7-up

I don't do them often, but a good top shelf Margarita
tequila (good)
Grand Marnier
sweet and sour mix or lime juice and a little sugar, your choice
ice

The missus tried one of these when we were in Roslyn, WA recently

Creamsicle
Vanilla Vodka
OJ
crushed ice (or blended)
topped with nutmeg (that was a surprisingly good addition)

Oh Dave, blenders don't belong near margaritas. 2 oz super premium tequila fresh lime juice and squeezed orange on top over ice cold glass with ice cubes and a float of your favorite orange liquor. Stir, don't shake. If you are using good tequila then salt goes on chips with fresh guacamole. ... another thread for that

Exactly, except there is no substitute... for Grand Marnier.

Here's one if you have an upset stomach:

Add to glass of orange juice 1 shot vodka, 1 shot Milk of Magnesia

Phillips' Screwdriver

Actually, there are lots of them. Orange liqueurs come in two basic classes, related to how they are made and I've spent some time trying all sorts of different ones. Cointreau was always a staple in my bar, GM collected dust in the back, but now I've ventured into all sorts of different liqueurs.

I've also varied the types of tequila, from a quality blanco to all sorts of reposadas.

You can also play with the lime juice component, by using different lime varieties, incorporating some other citrus, or infusing the juice with the zest of the fruit.

Endless variations on a margarita...

for starters..

Margaritas on the rocks for me. maybe use the blender to break up the ice..but never take it to slushy for me.

the lastest drink i learned was the Pisco sour..i cant make it since i cannot find a great Pisco locally. i want a Peru Pisco.

My go to drink is a Rusty Nail on the rocks. Great by itself, with a steak or with seafood! Saul Goodman orders one in the premier of the series - but I've been drinking them for much longer.

50/50 mix of Drambuie and Dewar's (1 oz each), - or go a bit lighter on Drambuie (3/4 oz) and up the Dewars (1.5 oz). Some add lemon juice - but not me.

If you like a nice Rye old fashioned, try this for your mixer. I tried making my own mix and this just adds a much better flavor I cannot duplicate.
