That's terrible and a tragedy for people who actually knew the person. In other news, why does the news media have to call it "Weathertech Raceway"?? I understand the part about them paying a bunch of $$ to have their name put on the place but it's still just Laguna Seca, right? When their contract is up, it will be some other floor mat company.

Crock of schit.

Crock of schit.
Depends on who you ask.

This past March, at Sebring, Dave MacNeil was showing me around his just delivered Prevost and he mentioned that he had purchased naming rights to Laguna Seca. He didn't think that the deal was a crock of schit. He was actually pretty happy about it.

I like Laguna Seca. I like it even more now that it is sponsored by a fantastic guy like Dave MacNeil.

I was watching some vids shot at rennsport on the big screen and was amazed that there is one unprotected corner worker station in the corkscrew where I believe this incident took place.

We were given the news Sunday evening after our second day of practice for the Runoffs at Sonoma. I have worked with Rich many times over the past 8 years. Rich was concerned about his safety whenever he was on a corner. His lose is deeply felt within our track community. The Monterey County Sheriff's department is still investigate the accident.

Rich was a long time member of the San Francisco Region of the SCCA. He was a good guy and he will be missed by all of us that work the track. My thoughts go out to Rich's family and to all those involved.

RIP Rich

It is likely one of those weird things that everyone thinks "how did that happen" and even more so when we learn the corner worker was not some new guy that had never done it before.

I did not know him, but RIP Rich.
