Cheap tool recommendation
I've had this in my garage for a while now but just got around to using it and wow, for such a cheap tool, it works great. It's called a Gutter Getter and I think it was about $5 at Harbor Freight.
Its just a molded plastic scoop that is designed to fit into a gutter to clean it out. It really worked great and made cleaning out my gutter almost too easy. It also happened to work great at cleaning out a channel drain. ![]()

My gutters fill up with sand over time and my one of those things works well. Otherwise it's hard work.

I cut up an empty quart oil jug and made one to those.

I bought all the wrenches, sockets, ratchets screw drivers, pneumatic hose/fittings and even a tool chest at Harbor Freight. In the 12 years I was racing the 914-6 I never broke ANYTHING! They might not be pretty but they sure work for ever!
They sell small animal traps which I use now and them when the Possums or racoons decide to want to stay in the house with us. They work great too! |

Cheap can't be good because you get what you pay for.
And I just happen to have a screwdriver that I am willing to sell for .... One million dollars! At that price it must be really good, right? (pre-emptive snob post) LOL. ![]() Last edited by sammyg2; 11-27-2018 at 05:55 AM.. |

Something you do not want to use on your gutters is this crap: https://www.leaffilter.com/discover/compare/foam/?utm_source=41PA&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=find-out-ND&campaignid=719614947&adgroupid=37251319803&network=g&device=c&creative=226033960686&keyword=gutter%20foam&adposition=1t1&loc_physical_ms=9015909&gclid=Cj0KCQiA8_PfBRC3ARIsAOzJ2uqbok6_s2LG-p4TO_6RUnrd6FyxgvYADGAiXy-0u36Lw1XtYjvyzHIaAuVyEALw_wcB My house had them when we moved in. The open cells in the top surface were packed solid with rotten vegetation and moss. The gutters weren't doing anything at all.

Also, gas blowers are useless if it has rained recently (i.e. within weeks) unless you want wet leaves/mud/crap being blown all over you and the house.

Not sure about the gutter scooper but I have a LOT of HF stuff. Overall I’ve had equally good luck compared to Craftsman or any of the other big box brands. For a weekend mechanic it makes no sense for me to spring for the “professional” (rip-off) brands.

No need for a ladder if its a single story house. i used to have a 2" ABS pipe with a U at the end. Attached to that was a cone shape pipe tapered to 1" opening. Attach the other end to the exhaust end of a shop vac. Walk along the house and blow away (on a dry day or course). Done in 10-15 min. Its not as effective as a gas blower because you are on the roof and get to see everything that has to blown off. This method gets about 90% of the leaves and derbies off your gutters and its cheap.
