Brand loyalty

Are you loyal to one brand of car ? My best friend is Ford loyal. Has a nice collection. Will not own anything else. I am sort of a Chevy guy. I have had Vettes, Camaros and GM trucks. I have also had an Opel, a couple T Birds and a '48 Plymouth and my Porsche of course. Maybe I am as loyal as a tomcat.
So are you brand loyal ? Maybe German loyal ?

I was loyal to Porsche and Toyota. Then I bought this WRX... looks like we are adding another Susie to the fleet for my wife now...

Toyota does not surprise me. Toyota factory 35 miles from here and they have a strong following. I have some Toyota friends that also have Chevys.

Toyota. My family has owned dozens and now that I think about it, every single person in extended family currently drives some sort of Toyota. My dad used to buy the extended warranty but of all the different models we've had, I think maybe once the power steering pump was replaced on my old Tacoma, so he doesn't bother any more, and they are usually dirt cheap.
Not even close to as fun to drive as my Porsche, but they start every morning and take gas and oil changes and run fine for years and years. Not much else to want in a car that takes me from A to B.

I’ve only owned German cars, in order they are:
1984 Audi 4000s
1976 BMW 2002
1979 911 Targa
1993 C2
1999 VW Lupo
1999 Golf Gti
Current cars are a 2002 Benz W210 and a 2006 BMW 1 series.

I’m always curious about other cars but the Germans seem to make the best automobiles in terms of quality and performance so I’m drawn to them the most.

I do sort of understand brand loyalty but it does seem odd, a man in Japan that has zero Japanese cars.

Zero too. I can't think of a company that has loyalty to it's customers.

Only VWs and the odd Porsche. Of course, my father was a VW dealer for 60 years, so...

I inherited loyalties to the Cleveland Browns, John Deere tractors and Chrysler products from my father. But things change. I still pay homage to my dad’s loyalty (I have an old Dodge truck and I check the NFL scores every week) but I hate John Deere, the last modern MoPar I had was a POS, and the Browns are the worst team in the NFL.

For more than 20 years... Only VW, Porsche and Mercedes.

Boring I know but I've had it with cars.

Not brand loyal as much as butt loyal. Got a new car and driving it pinched the nerves in the lower part of my spine. Symptoms were my feet going numb and my butt hurting. Aggravated the nerves bad enough couldn't hardly sit for longer that 10 minutes without it becoming extremely painful driving or not. Also woke up at night with my feet hurting,

The company replaced the seats, then bought the car back. Made me sign a non-disclosure statement.

Thought I was weird or something until I let a car dealer acquaintance drive it while I was test driving some cars off his lot. He said it caused him pain as well. A friend inherited a similar car from his mom and had the same issues. Also saw Hugh Grant to Top Gear and he talked about having the same issue with his brother's car. And having to reluctantly sell his Vantage and get a Porsche to keep his butt from hurting.

While the nerves were aggravated I test drove all brands and models of vehicles, new and used I could find. Found only the following brands pain free, Volvo, BMW only with sports seats, and Porsche. Everything else was, well...literally a pain the the butt.

Over the years there have been IIRC 16 cars.
Seven have been VWs Five others have been European and three Japanese.
On the other hand all of the trucks have been GMs or Fords.

Best

Mostly Fords, but a Jeep, and a BMW in the mix. 2004 Mustang GT conv., 2004 6.0L diesel Excursion, 1999 F250 7.3 diesel, 1996 F150 with 300 I6.

I've owned probably 30 Fords, and only ever had 1 Chevy.

I buy Ford Trucks. For SUV/Car I have had Subaru, Ford, Toyota and Hyundai. My next car will probably be a Genesis.

I know it's purely emotional, but I am bad about brand loyalty. Some of the brands I am loyal to:

Toyota (I've owned at least one Toyota continuously since 1987 - I have 3 right now)
Porsche - (just re-upped my PCA membership for the 25th year)
Gibson guitars
Marshall amps

I could go on, but you get the idea. I know it is silly, but what the heck. Probably worse is the corollary - there are some brands that I do not like and it is not for any good reason - just emotional bias.
