Brake fluid sprayed on paint today.

I hadn't used my Motive pressure bleeder in a few years. When I pressurized it today, the line sprung leaks everywhere and fluid sprayed all over Mrs. Lee's X1's left front fender and some onto my bike. I stopped the spraying, threw paper towels everywhere and then poured bottled water over everything, then sprayed with citrus degreaser. I don't see any streaks or stains and this was all overwith in minutes. How screwed am I?

You might be fine. I’ve spilled a little brake fluid on paint with no problems in the past.

I always fill just the brake reservoir and keep air only in the Motive tank. You have to keep your eye on the reservoir but it is much easier (I feel) with much easier clean up.

Motive is in the trash. It's done. Doing it the old fashion way soon.

New paint isn't like the old paint. You flushed it with water and degreaser. That's good. Make sure you got all the degreaser off.

Your probably fine. Clearcoat is pretty tough stuff.

You're not. If no damage it's cool. Takes a bit.

You wanna see some **** come off, use some strong gasket remover.

I never put brake fluid into the motive, just use it dry and make sure and watch that the master stays full.

Ouch! I seem to remember the time that I had a problem, the issue was readily apparent immediately, so if it looks good, you probably got it in time.

This is the way I've always done it. However, I tossed my Motive a while back for the same reason.
The last time I went to use it, the tube nearly disintegrated in my hand before I even had a chance to attach/pressurize.
I am thinking it's either crap-quality tubing, the AZ heat, or a combo of both. YMMV...

If you rinsed it right away w water, should be good to go.Brake fluid is nasty stuff on paint but the good news is that water dissipates it pretty completely. Rinse w H2o quickly if it ever happens is the general advice. Wash the car again to feel better.

If the paint had a good coat of wax on it then that will have also helped prevent damage. Make sure to thoroughly clean the area several times and then give it a good coat of wax.

Rinsing right away probably saved it. If it was me I would have rolled them into the drive and washed with Dawn dishwashing detergent then waxed.

I didn't pinch off the overflow tube and did the same thing.
Sold the Motive though it is nice to have in a pinch.

Pump up, crack bleeder, watch gauge, close bleeder, check res, repeat.

You can replace the lines on the motive bleeders for cheap.... I know after the one I borrowed from a buddy split the line and blew ATE super blue all over my car and garage wall. I cleaned all that off the paint right away and it’s been fine.

I use a similar unit to the mityvac linked above but it was $15-20 not $40. The only time it doesn't work well is when I want to bleed the clutch.

That’s the weak link. Replace the hoses if it’s been sitting a while!

This. Pretty stupid to trash a $50 tool because $5 of tubing went bad.

Well, I'm Porsche-less, my 330xi wagon will be sold or traded the day before the warranty expires and I doubt Mrs. Lee will keep her X1 long enough for me to have to do this again. So I'd probably have to replace the tubing every time I wanted use the Motive, which would be once every several years.... until I buy another 911.
